COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

Copper body, off-white head, PNW hop nose. Well-balanced IPA. Why does the brewer think this is some how "maximal"; it is hardly exceptional in its gravity, IBUs or ABV! Nice beer, though.

Bottle. So, it almost 8.am and I just finished writing my 5th semester project, which is to be handed in at 1.pm today, after an all-night effort. What better way to celebrate for a hophead like myself than with my very first double IPA?! Pours a hazy orange-amber with a nice, but diminishing off-white/yellowish head. Some lacing. Soft hoppy and malty aroma. Notes of rye. Flavour is bitter hoppy and malty. A bit candy-like. Licorice bitterness in the finish. Nice body. This was nice, but I had hoped for more – especially bitterness-wise. 20-12-06.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a beige/yellow color ale with a medium bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of C-hops is quite powerful with lots of citrus and floral notes. Taste is quite bitter with huge citrus and floral hops with a big grassy feel. Malt is more subdued then I would have liked it with limited caramel. Body is about average with medium carbonation. Good take on the style but it is missing something (malt?) to make it truly great.

Pine and pineapple. Slightly peppery and spicy. Sweet malt balances this well. Rather than a balanced beer where both things even each other out, this is a whole lot of hops, but then some good malt to provide contrast (if that makes any sense). Alcohol is a bit low for a double, but the flavor is big enough to justify it.

Hazy orange body, fast away off white head; Spritzy, peachy, malty, nothing special nose; Soft textured body, to little carbonation, bitter sweet body; Medium sized bitter sweet finish, peachy aromas. Not my kind of IPA, unclear and unbalanced.

Bottle from santa: Pours a nice copper color with a nice, slightly off white head. Smell is seems pleasant, some pine, citrus, and maybe some caramel hidden in the back. Taste is piney, with a hint of citrus. In no way is this IPA overpowering. It’s well balanced and very well done.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2009 Not too sweet and undercarbonated like other Impy IPA. Great flavour and dry without any overbearing, unseemly bite. Clearly an IPA but a steadier experince from nose to finish like some of the great dry pale ales are. Great especially give the affordabe price. Only drawback is an odd aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper color with a big white head that stick around a while. Aroma is floral hops, pine, citrus. Flavor is some malt, grapefruit, pine. Palate is medium bodied, with some stickiness. I would have rated it higher but it’s more of an IPA than IIPA.

Hoppy and malty. Some odd malt flavors. A little too sweet. The hops are nice and hide the alcohol decently.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a coppery orange with a pale yellow-white head that held up quite well. Very nice lacing. Wonderful aroma of pine and grapefruits. These same traits come out in the flavor as well along with some caramel sweetness. Dry, bitter finish but not excessively so. This is a real nice IPA.
