At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

massive floral hops on this pale honey pour. Liquified flower shop in this unusally creamy beer. Hops not over the top like so many IPAs.

Ah, a very nice offering from Lagunitas, who are known for their specialties and their occasional duds. This is as advertised, a highly hopped IPA that has a good bite and lingering hop flavor on the palate. Not sure if Iíd call it a double IPA, but itís much better than their standard IPA, if not just for the fresh taste alone. Glad I picked up a 6íer.

Hazy orange color with a beige head. Aroma of pine and citrus hops. Flavor of grapefruit hops. Not very malty, and pretty mild for a 2IPA, but its really good.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2008 on cask at the Night of the Living Ales 07. iíve not been a big fan of this beer or brewery for that matter but found the cask version quite tasty. nice pnw hop balanced well.3.6.

2008 vintage, 12oz bottle, 8.0%abv version. pours clear golden with white head. nose is piney and citrus hops but a big grainy malt aroma coming through and this really isnít that hoppy. was isnít that hoppy also, an earthy grainy flavor with some grapefruit hop notes. this is more like a single ipa or a 1.5 ipa. calling it maximus is a bit of a joke. 3.2.

Bottle. Strong hop aroma and some malt. It felt a little too carbonated on the palate. Good hop flavor with nice bitterness, but could use some malt for balance.

Poured a reddish orange; medium head. Aroma of grapefruit, citrus and orange. Nice, light oily mouthfeel. Pretty subdued for a DIPA, but still tasty. Pretty good balance, with a caramel malt flavor. About average for the style.

This is an outstanding beer! It has an aroma off of its orange glow that really spikes with different layers of complexity...fruits, herbs, and a nice sense of hops.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2007 Bottle. Pours with reddish/orangeish color and lots of head. Pleasant bitter smell, and the hops predominate but not too overpowering like some other IPA’s. Great balance, IMO.

Aroma of an almost lipton iced tea mix smell and a small amount of malt on the nose. Pours a clear copper color. Taste is less sweet than other IPAs and has a nice bitter hop tastes Creamy mouth feel and lasting finish.
