4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2008 LTD sampled 6-2-2008: Pours copper w/ a tall lasting head. Good lacing. Strong bitter sweet aromas. Full nctar w/ good carbonation. A fat malty sweetness pushes bright, fresh citrus candy forward. The hop component grabs my tongue and ties it in a knot while the malty goodness tries to soothe my wounds. The finish is bittered well w/ a malty sweetness hanging in the wind.
Maximus Regular: Pours a golden copper color w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Good hangtime. Residual lacing is clasic w/ a full down comforter and snail tracks. Aroma of fresh hopsy pine sap and thick malts. Nice! Full nectar w/ ample residual nectar. Ths is a malty version w/ a mild sweetness balanced by a moderate grapefruit rind hop profile. Flavors are integrated well w/ a touch of perfume. Fat caramel malts, punchy hops, what more could you ask for ? The finish is long and leaves a mild sweetness on the palate as well as abundant grapefruit bittering.
Flavors are more pronounced as it warms. Not as hoppy as the commercial description suggests and a little light on the alcohol for it’s style. All in all a rather enjoyable beer that leans slightly out of style. If this brew was the typical 9 or 10 abv with this same balance, it would be a classic brew indeed.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Slightly hazy light amber pour. Nose is crisp citrus, C-hop, honey, spice. In the mouth it is a crisp, clean flavor, lots of bitterness and floral. Very nice. Aftertaste is a soft bitterness and honey.

Poured into a snifter. Head quickly dissipates to multi-sized bubbles. Extreme tingly hop notes. Hazy golden color with little active carbonation. Lively taste with lingering bitter hop finish. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle - 22 oz) Clear reddish and coppery color with a soapy yet lasting slightly off-white head. Heavy floral and hop aroma with a slight undertone of caramel malts. The taste begins with a smooth and peppery hop taste and goes to a floral middle and slightly sweet middle with a peppery and floral finish. Leaves a nice and bitter aftertaste.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(On bottle)Impressive title, but kind of a quiet drink. Has a good hopping, nice berr˙/sugarish aroma and a full malty finish, but not enough to be a real kicker.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy amber with a thick, tanned head. Very hoppy aroma (well, of course... it’s an IIPA..) with hints citrus, grass and flowers. The bitter finish lasts...

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Copper colored with creamy white head dragging fine laze. Aroma is "typical American IPA": Cat pee, citrus etc. Flavor is malty with hints of apricot, strawberry. Finishes with intense sharp and pleasant bitterness. Gets a bit watery in the end, but nonetheless very good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear copper with a light tan head. Piney c-hop nose, fairly sweet, really resiny. Sweet, but not overly so--nice caramel notes, quite bitter, with grapefruit and orange.
