2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark copper with virtually no head and minimal lacing. Nose is hoppy; dominated by west coat hops (cascade?). Flavor is pretty boring for an IIPA. Not much going on here...

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz Bottle: Pours a deep golden color with an off white head that remains atop for most of the whole beer and leaves sticky foamy residue all along the side of my shaker glass. Lemon, other citrus, pine, grass, citrus, caramel, wheat ... with the pine and lemon really jumping out at you. The flavor is sweet initially with a hop power bomb in the middle another sweet malt flavor and hop bitterness to finish off. An interesting balance. Some grapefruit, pine, citrus/lemon, caramel flavors. The caramel is suprisingly strong in the flavor. Some bitterness as it warms in standard IIPA fashion, although it gives the impression of a heavily carbonated beer (although there are some seriously small bubbles floating to the top, its not an overly carbonated beer).

220z. Bottle: Clear copper color with a cream colored head and sticky lacing. Aromas of pine needles, grass & junipers. Powerful bitter, hoppy taste of graprfruit rinds. Thick and smooth body with average carbonation. It leaves a nice bitter aftertaste lingering for sometime. Delicious.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle. Rich amber color and long lasting head. A little piney on the tongue and quite hoppy on the aroma but certainly not as bitter as one would expect from an IIPA

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured an amber-orange color with a small head and minimal lacing. The aroma was light pines with some citrus and grapefruit aromas. The flavor was of mild alcohol, dominated by citrus and some grapefruit hoppy flavors. Light pine hops underneath. The mouthfeel was moderate with light carbonation. A nice beer. Re-rated in 3/3, no changes.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
bottle. frothy, tawny head that laced nicely. really good color and appearance, more orange than anything else. Very hoppy, with molassess/horseblancket taste that gradually transformed to a slightly too medicinal sourness. Over all a great and complex beer.

Resin and grapefruit aroma (and malt). Gold tending towards reddish amber (top to bottom under halogen), maybe a ruby hint towards the bottom. Medium feel, malt to start, moving to hops, to grapefruit, to hops. Grapefruit noticeable at the finish. Swish and itís chewable. Swish and an apricot component appears. And itís 78 ibu. Nicely astringent when all is done. Pine in the burp. Really, really, great.

A great double IPA from Lagunitas! I really enjoyed the immense hoppiness from this beer, the hoppiness contributed to my happiness, you could say. Found it well-balanced, aromatic, yet did not remove the enamel from my teeth, I am pleased to report. All things considered, an enjoyable beer that should not to be followed by something tamer, such as a regular IPA...
