At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

A thick golden color with robust head. A good flavor with plenty of hops that donít overwhelm the taste. Not the best Double IPA, but tasty. A little expensive.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2004 22 oz bottle: poured into a shaker. really nice deep golden color with a modest creamy head. doesnt smell as hoppy as i expected but, pretty nice. feels goon in my mouth- thick creamy and alittle sticky. tastes pretty malty and very hoppy. its a really mellow double ipa but i like it alot still.

Pretty tasty little beer. Surprisingly pale for a beer ringing in at almost 8%. Itís a light amber, very clear on the first pour, with an excellent eggshell head thatís the perfect consistency. It lingers nicely as well. The aroma is intensely hoppy, as is the flavor, but the beer isnít overly bitter. In fact, if itís overly anything, itís overly sweet. The sweetness definitely turns it into a slow sipper.

Big white head, dark orange color. Aroma: fresh, floral, fruity, hoppy. This is self-hyped as highly hopped, hence the boastful name, but on first sip, Iím not overwhelmed. First impression: a more alcoholic extra pale ale, but not the hoppiest of IPAs by a long shot. Smooth palate, medium body, easy-drinking.But overall, a disappointment.

Damn i love this brew. Hoppy, great aroma, perfectly balanced, the English troops in India would have loved this.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2004 Nice and resinous, but MAXIMUS? Not exactly sure what I was expecting... not exactly disappointed, but neither was I blown away. Was thinking that perhaps I was going to be treated to a relative to a double IPA. Seemed like a far off cousin that didn't study the lessons all too well and mumbled through the good bits. Still enjoy this brewery, so don't take it the wrong way. Re-rate - While my opinion might not be vastly different, I think I was a bit harsh. Either that or the hop rate was upped. Rather nice and while perhaps not too complex, the focus on hops bolstered by some good malt makes this a rather enjoyable brew.

Bought in the 22 oz brown bomber. Poured into my pint glass, it appears to be a dark orangey brown, darker than the usual IPA..nice persistent creamy white head, attractive looking carbonation. The aroma? well two words, spicy and hops! Taste surprisingly is almost balanced..at forst there is an exspansive malty sweetness..then the hop monster takes over at the back of the tongue..very dry with hints of alcohol. Very intresting and nice on the palate. Quite a drinkable ale..IMO..not bad.

Thanks to Eyedrinkale for sending me this Imperial Bomber a few months ago!
Pours with the orangey glow of a Halloween pumpkin, and a huge chunky cream colored head sitting atop. The aroma is a mass of caramelized grapefruit, guava, tangerine zests and a note of brown sugar.
The flavor brings exceptionally dry notes of pinesap and spruce chips, and Iím talking about some spicy cedar like notes as well. I note some mild cigar tobaccoÖ and large suggestions of a planter filled with developed mid-simmer marigolds. Big musty hops and caramel malt all the way through. This is a pretty tasty Imperial IPAÖ I just wish I hadnít waited to drink itÖ I think it would have been even more alluring fresh!

22 oz bottle-pours a very nice orange hue-farily clear appearance. minimal white head around rim of snifter. Fairly strong grapefruit/pineapple aroma that reminds me of Goose Island Imperial IPA, but not as sweet as the GI. Very piney flavor that didn't have the malts to back it up. slightly astringent/metallic bite on the tongue. Good Imperial IPA, but there are much better from CA. Thanks to Loweredsixth for sending it and whaleman for letting us sample.
