Powerful flowery citrusy Cascade hop aroma. Hoppy, grapefruit, tea flavor with a bitter/slightly sour/crisp finish. The hops totally dominate and there is little discernable malt flavor. Absolutely delicious, one of the best California-style IPAís Iíve ever had.

Slightly cloudy orange with a dense foam head. Maximus hopus grapefruit/ orange peel up front, just a hint of malt sweetness then, POW hop bitter/ sour aftertaste finish.

Hoppy, hoppy, hoppy! Almost a grapefruit hop nose. Decent malt body. Huge hops on the finish. Not for the amature.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fairly pale yellow-orange color with a massive head. Very citric hop aroma with some apricots and a little malt. Flavor is overwhelmingly bitter with some hop flavor and some malt. Medium body. Iíve had this many times on tap at the Covered Wagon in SF when it was a seasonal and lemme say, itís dangerous to drink as a session beer! A quite tasty beer that might be a tad unbalanced towards the bitter end of the spectrum. A hopheadís delight.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Golden-reddish in color with a slightly yellow, creamy head. Floral hoppyness in the nose. Sour, citric flavor that fades to an earthy spicyness. Lots of hop bitterness that begins toward the middle and increases toward the end. This is quite different from most american IPAís. Seems like it is pretty much hop soda, but it is not overwhelmingly hoppy. The malt does just enough to keep it real interesting.

fresh texas st augustine + water + yeast = lagunitas maximus....hoppy as hell....very nice if you are in the mood for it, but not as good as the stone IPA.

3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sliced grapefruit for breakfast wafts up to greet you. Orange, this is definitely orange. This leans quite a bit toward the citrus side of the fence. The grapefruit, orange peel taste is kind of interesting, but a bit distracting. The bitter lingers on the inside for quite awhile, yet without that coating feeling you sometimes get from high octane hops. Nice, but could do without so much grapefruit.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pretty burnt orange; Head was massive and rocky and had tons of lace; Searing hops in the nose advertising itself with no BS. Dry and floral to start. The alcohol is present- maybe too much so. Tons of dryness is attacking the palate- like Stoneís Ruination, I canít drink anything after this one. Quickly becoming one of my fave breweries.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Slightly cloudy orange appearance. Very hoppy, very typical. An ok beer, but I guess if you want a beer with balance then you donít want an IPA, let alone and Imperial IPA.

Orangey, hazy body, good head formation. Citrus and apricot aroma, biscuity malt. Medium bodied, light carbonation. Mildly biscuity malt flavor, sweetnes as beer warms. Impressive orange/grapefruit citrus hop flavor and great bitterness and sourness in the finish that spreads out in the aftertaste.
