4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours cloudy amber with thick white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is cascade hops (serious hops here) with some malty tones as well. But mainly just hops. This has one of the most bitter finishes I've ever tasted. There is a pause and then the hops kick in with attitude. Packs quite a bitter kick in the end. Alcohol is apparent in the taste after a few swigs. This is one dramatically unbalanced beer -- all hops and bitter, very little malts. I like it!

Pours a nice ruddy golden brown with a lacy head and floaters (yeast). Sweet and hoppy aroma. Flavor is full. Sweet start that opens up into a sharp, yet subtle taste. Mildly hoppy finish.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours crystal clear and an orange copper color. Nice big head initially that dissipates to a small even head with excellent lacing. Aroma is very, very fresh hops (this reminds me of the Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale) with a decent amount of malt thrown in. Flavor is full and sweet up front with the hop bitterness kicking in later than expected. Finishes quite smooth. Not really as hoppy as expected for a double.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aged about a year: Nice golden color. Light citrus scent. Definately bitter, but I think that age might have mellowed this a bit. Pine flavor. An interesting, almost minty aftertaste. Enjoyable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2004 A hazy copper color, pours a bit on the thick side with an off cream to tan colored head that is fairly thick and lasting. A hoppy aroma with notes of fruit and citrus, perhaps some aromas of a blooming field of some type of flower. A full mouth-feel, quite thick for an IPA, even for a strong one. This was yester-years American Barley-Wine. The hops are there, but not as up front as I was expecting. A sort of orange-nectar hop flavor. This beer is quite malty as well. Lightly sweet, which gives this beer a hop nectar type taste. This beer was not as bitter or hoppy as I was expecting. It is pretty good though. It is a bit too thick for my taste though.

Bigger alcohol, bigger hop presence, and same chewy caramelly malt as in their IPA. Wonderful to the last drop. Thanks to SDBruboy!

Golden, bit of a copper tint, minimal white lacing - aroma is heavy with pine - nice malt/hop balance - not as aggressively hopped as many Cali. beers, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing - citrus, maybe even some melon, and a nice woodiness - a mouthful of sweet maltiness in the initial flavor makes way for a clean, hoppy finish - very smooth considering its alcohol content.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
It's like an amped up IPA from Lagunitas, which I guess is its intent. More hops, more citrus, but balanced with more caramel flavors and some dry orange peel. Mild mouthfeel with a medium finish. Good and smooth.
