4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very nice, in fact, it seemed much better than the last time i tried it.
Not the most bitter beers in the world, it actually had pretty good balance despite the name.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
floral hoppy aroma, pine, also some baking soda. Pours a light copper brown, nice foamy head. Hop bitterness lingers but with a name like Maximus not as hoppy as I expected. Sweetish for the style. Enjoyable but not at the top of the heap.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours hazy golden orange color with little head. Aroma of citrus hops but it’s faint.. great malty taste with a hoppy addition and a slight alcohol finish..

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
beer pours a hazy golden-amber with a well-formed white head that laces well. aroma is the usual American, citrusy hops (although a bit less pungent than I would expect in a double IPA), backed up by some toasty malt and, unfortunately, some diacetyl (butter). flavor is more of the same, with the hops again being somewhat understated for the style (especially flavor-wise), and their flavor getting somewhat covered up by the diacetyl. plus, the bitterness carries quite a bit of astringency. even without the "d", this is an underflavored (hop-wise) double IPA at best-hardly a "maximus". back to the drawing board

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very foggy, dark orange body with a thick, sticky head. Strong piey aroma with maybe a little carmel. Great balance between the sweet malt flavor and the bitter piney hop finish. Good stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
A really fine California IPA that shows up front hops balanced toward the sweet side with bitterness and fills the mouth with overwhelming hope and honey notes

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
It tastes like a pumped up Lagunitas IPA rather than an original creation. A touch of IIPA syrup in the flavour and body. Hops did not seem overly strong as even my swill drinking buddy enjoyed it without exclamation.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours slightly turbid deep copper with a white head and significant hop floaties (I threw an ounce away, damn it!). Aroma of big resiny hops, pine, citrus, malt, and slight fine cognac. Great aroma. Tastes hoppy, malty, with some fruit and a well balanced, very complex finish. As it warmed, some syrupy apricot and caramel made themselves known. This one is heavily hopped (and dry hopped) yet very well balanced, with more fruit/resin/biscuit at the esophageal space. This one is up there with Hercules and Marin White Knuckle as the cream of the lower-upper tier of Impy IPAs. I kicked myself hard for not buying 6 of these.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft: Orangish, nice white head, citrus and hop aroma, flavor of sweet citrus, medium bitterness, intensely flavorful, freakin good. Quite easy to drink many of these at once

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A cloudy amber-orange color, the head a light tan with some noticeable lacing. The nose is of floral hops, citrusy, light hints of malts too. Well the beginning is sweet----yep, definitely malty sweet. A strong departure from the Moylander I just tried. This isn’t bad, just different. The mouthfeel is very thick, much more so than the Moylander. The finish, is all ’Hops’, somewhat dry, a bit acidic, with a nice bitter aftertaste. Another fine example of this great style.
