COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

Aroma is a lighter than anticipated orange hops, hazy orange colour, small off-white foamy head. Flavour is hoppy, with some malt background, giving a nice balance to this medium bodied beer. Terrific! Thanks again to Ralph @ Volo for being bold enough to bring these beers to Toronto!

Had this in Malibu at a canyon side B&B prior to my graduation. The aroma was had to get at due to the wind, but a brief trip indoors allowed for the discovery of full sweet malt and lightly crisp citrus hops. The brew was relatively nice looking, having an amber appearance, heavy carbonation, and a frothy head. The taste was sweet malt, including caramel and toasted malt. Some nice crisp citrus hops (orange and grapefruit are pronounced) but overall they are subdued for a 2IPA. A good brew overall and a nice drink. Glad I tried it. Don’t know if I would seek this out for the style though

This drink wallops the hell out of your mouth with orange and grapefruit and juniper berry flavours. Bitter to the core. I don’t think I’ve had such an overwhelming hoppy drink in as long as I can remember. An EXTREME double to say the least.

From notes taken at the Southwest Beer Festival in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conditions were hard to take notes in but these are the ratings and they stand. Good stuff. Well hopped with a good balance. Nice bitterness. People at the tent were cool.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2005 Great beer, but not what I wanted out of the style. It’s a bit too sweet and not enough bitter in my opinion. Very similar to Hercules, if I remember correctly. Solid none the less. Thanks again to thefatmanrocks for sending this as a surprise, alongside two Double Bastards in a trade.

Cloudy orange. HUGE puffy white head. First impression is how malty this. I expected it to have more of a hoppy bite, especially for an IIPA. TONS of sediment. Too much so for my liking but nevertheless this is really drinkable brew that I’d happily drink again simply b/c it’s got a good flavor and is well balanced.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2006 Sweet orange and hop juice nose, some fruity/grape and pineapple hints; full, round body and sweetness with a fresh citrus hop finish, chewy and sticky palate; I think the sweetness really holds up the substantial hoppiness of this brew; if you like their IPA, you’ll really like this. I’m so impressed with this brewer: Great Brew!

This has actually a musty caramelly malty aroma with some hints of citrus orange and grapefruit mixed in. This does not smell like your typical west coast IPA. Mildly hazy copper color with a small light tan/yellow head. Burnt toast flavors in the end. Almost like a burnt popcorn. Whoa. Some bitter hops, but definitely an overburnt flavor to finish. I don’t know if this was brewer’s intention or a bad offering. Theres a slight vinous sour character to start. This bottle might be off...
