At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

I’ll preface this by saying that I rated Lagunitas IPA earlier today so my palate maybe trained to the IPA flavor. This beer poured a golden honey orange with a white one finger head which showed nice lacing. Hints of aromatic hops and citrus sweetness on the nose. There was a malty sweetness in the center of the mouth and some bitterness on the finish, but not what I expected. I feel like I got more hop bitterness from the IPA than this one. It also lacked the carmel notes that the regular IPA had. Overall and very enjoyable and well balanced beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy amber orange color with a two finger off white head that dropped down to a thin layer. Its aroma is piney, floral hops with some citrus notes and some light malt. Taste is primarily big bitter, spicy hops with a solid malt overlay that has hints of citrus and tangy tangerine. Smooth, spicy mouthfeel. A decent DIPA.

This should be a double IPA, it’s not so bitter as it says on the bottle, but is a fantastic tasty American summer IPA / Pale Ale.

12oz bottle. Pours a darker orange reminiscent of newly stained hardwood floors. Aroma of orange rind, with a earthy, grassy scent in the background covering just a hint of booze. The beer flows from slightly orange citrus upfront into a sweet malt profile into a bitter astringent finish. The finish is what I can’t get onboard it. It has similarities to some DIPAs, but I technically wouldn’t consider it one. Its just a real hopped up, bitter-ass, IPA. If you like west coast IPAs, this one is for you.

Small white head with minimal lacing. light amber hue in the glass. Aromas of slightly sweet hops. Some floral/perfume notes in there as well. Mouth-feel is sufficiently carbonated. Initially the hops are soft then expand as it moves over the palate. Great balance overall. At 72 IBU I expected more bitterness. This was surprisingly smooth.

hops hops hops.... awesome aroma, not too bitter, and loaded with hops. Huge mouth feel, and very very drinkable

Pours caramel amber into the glass, with a wispy fluff head that leaves chunky lace. The nose is of fresh spruce and pine. An assertive caramel malt backbone doesn’t get in the way of the cleansing spruce and citrusy grapefruit and orange peel. It finishes with a healthy dose of pine hops, alongside some alcohol. It feels very full, yet very refreshing. Nice, clean on the palate, but of definite substance. A nice offering here.

A very underrated IIPA. Forgot about this one and then recently had what seemed to be a very fresh bottle. I put it right up there w/ Pliny and some of the others with high ratings. If you want a great all-around solid Imperial IPA grab one of these. Lagunitas continues to please the taste buds!
