At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

Brilliantly clear amber colour with thin white head. Strong grapefruit and pine aroma with decent caramel backing. Standard, but exemplary. Oily body adds to perceived sweetness. The caramel is nicely balanced with a strong but rounded bitterness. A little alcohol warmth to finish. Nice.

Very citrusy in the beginning - huge overall hops infusion. Does pretty well on the malt backbone as well though. Pours dark amber with good head and lacing. Medium bitter finish. This would be very nice if super fresh. Some peel. Bottle.

Draught on keg at Euston Tap. What a strange interpretation of the DIPA style - it smells like perfume & tastes like a mash-up of flowers and Ribena summer fruits! But, I seem to be enjoying its strangeness ...

Keg at the hanging bat. Pours clear golden amber, thin white head. Hop heavy resin aromas, pine too. Taste is bitter, sticky, boozy. Oily texture, bitter finish. Good, but not their best.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2014 Keg at The Hanging Bat. Clear golden body with a thin off-white head. Steady carbonation. Great lacing. Aroma of pine, honey and orange. Flavour of pine needles, boozy tangerine and a faint peppery finish. Very bitter and hoppy. Medium body with an oily, almost chewy texture. Soft fizz. This brewery knows how to hop an IPA/DIPA.

Really nice smell and color but the taste didn’t live up for me. Getting too much of the alcohol for a 8.2% and the sweetness and bitterness don’t balance well for me.

(350ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours clear medium amber with a moderate bubbly white head that recedes to a small cap with lace. Aroma has a lot of light caramel malt and decent amount of hops, mango, pine, dried stone fruit, hint of alcohol. On the palate, light slightly bready caramel malt core is fairly prominent, apricot, bit herbal, vague tropical notes. More pine resin and bitterness comes from the middle into the finish, honeyish malt sweetness and a bit of grain showing up along with some fruit lingering. Bitterness is pretty average for a DIPA, medium bodied, moderate sharp carbonation, hint of alcohol heat. This seems to have too much malt character (without complexity) relative to hops for me, and the hops are probably faded too. Not bad, but not best of style either.

Golden honey/red crystal. Smells quite floral with some tropical (mango) fruit and the malts. Not overly hopped up aromas, the maltiness really comes through on the nose. Loads of hoppy bitterness at the front with some slight sweetness from the caramel like malts, some pine resin. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Seems like there is too much malt and not enough hops but there is a sticky bitterness that persists making it very worthwhile.
