| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2008 Lovely orange hued beer with white head. Hoppy nose and a bit of citrus. Some sweetness in there, probable higher ending gravity/ higher mash temp than my preference for a 2IPA. Shades of sauterne-like marmalade on the palate. Not intensely hopped, and the malt tends to dominate. Bloody good beer, I just prefer a drier, hoppier 2IPA myself. rthbass (27), Vancouver, Washington, USA

Pours dark amber, almost red, with a small off-white head and clear as can be. Little to no lacing. Good bitterness. Not super powerful. I would expect a little more bitterness and flavor from an Imperial. Stronger than the standard Lagunitas IPA, but not by much. Good malt structure and hop profile. Citrus and spicy cinnamon notes. Signature Lagunitas IPA "soy sauce" flavor. Original and enjoyable but not my first choice. highibus (427), Mill Creek, Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Wow, pours my favorite color for an IPA. A nice caramel color with big floral bouquet. flavor is spot on, the hops attack your tongue but in a good way. Nice notes of sweet caramel and spicy hops. Really a perfect representation of the glorious IPA. drjay44 (772), Salida, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours a lovely light tan head, nice golden color, nose was resinous, piney, and very slightly floral, initial taste not particularly big, finishing with nice hop spice and then bitterness, with a superb mouth feel. The nose was perhaps a bit monochromatic, and a bit short on floral aroma. Underhook (162), Lincoln Park, New Jersey, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Updated: Sep 4, 2008Pours an enticing dark gold, smells of a bit of hops but not as much as I expected, relatively weak on the nose which surprises me as most IIPAs I’ve tried have a great nose. Looking down the ratings already here, it seems like I’m the only one who will score this weak on aroma- maybe my nose is too stuffed? Really just a bland bit of hoppy aroma, nothing special. The label lists 72.41 IBUs, pretty low for a 2IPA. First sip... wow, lots of hop punch, but balanced with a citric sweetness and some malt towards the end. Finishes long, honey/malty, and bitter. Perfect mouthfeel- sticky malt with adequate carbonation. Really, really enjoyable IPA, the best new IPA I’ve tried in months. I want to give this a higher rating but the nose just wasn’t there for me. Either way, excellent IIPA, a far better effort than Lagunitas’ regular IPA. Recommended for sure. Has unclear, brown color and orange head. Aroma is sweet hops as is flavor. Great taste throughout. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 28, 2008 Tasty looking amber pour with a creamy tan head that lasts and laces nicely. Aroma of caramel malt, pine sap and grapefruit rind. Big hoppy flavor, lots of citrus and pine, and a smooth malt balance. Thick and sticky on the palate, with a long bitter finish. Yummy!
