Has the traditional lagunitas taste and is very flavorful. PolakPorter (82), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 30, 2008 12oz bottle - 8.3% alc. Maximus. The name says it all. So much malt combined with even more hops. In the end, it creates a slightly thick and sticky, but amazingly enjoyable DIPA. Going down, the malt initially win the battle until, shortly thereafter, the hops perform a covert sneak-attack on the palate. This beer is definitely one to check out. I heard the Maximus in the bomber is not as good, if it wasn’t for the case of 12ozers in my basement, I’d like to pick one up for comparison. Overall: WOW! I don’t care if its 11 in the morning, I can’t wait! RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Jul 29, 2008 22 oz bottle. Aroma of grapefruit and a little malt. Sweet malty flavor at the beginning, which yields to a grapefruity hoppy bittness with some grassy notes. I liked the flavor balance and complexity Burnt orange color with thin, yet persistant head. Decent lacing on the glass. Nice, unique brew that proves you don’t have to hit people over the head with a bunch of hops to make an enjoyable IPA.
