COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Cigar City snifter. Appearance: Pours a clear orange-copper with a very small foamy white head which dissipates quickly. Minimal lacing. Smell: Sweet floral and citrus hops, caramel and a hint of alcohol in the background. Taste: Mildly sweet citrus up front followed by a mix of spicy hops and earthy malts in the middle then an explosion of lemon rind bitterness and a subdued hint of alcohol at the finish. Aftertaste is very bitter. I’m surprised that this is only 72 IBUs. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Drinkability: Fairly high drinkability. You could down a couple without much trouble. Overall: Good beer overall. While I guess it’s technically an Imperial IPA, I consider this more of a strong IPA. It’s not the best in the world but you can do much worse.

Bottle consumed during Online Birthday Party, October 16th, 2010. Gold with a white head. Leafy, hoppy aroma with a hint of creamy caramel developing. Sweet taste with leafy coriander and a sharp bitter finish. Full and exhilarating, yet very drinkable.

Mine is a lot maltier than the other reviews that I read. Maybe a bit old? The bitterness is there, but the malt aroma and malt flavors are very strong on the front and the bitterness kicks in after the malt. Maybe mine is a bit old? Still pretty good though.

Thanks to mar for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. The aroma is not near as strong as I remembered it being. I get some pine and citrus notes, as well as a little bit of toffee. Still, it is not the big strong aroma that I remember from this beer. The flavor is similar, but more pronounced. I get some tropical fruit and pine hop notes, as well as some alcohol. There is also some toffee. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Yellowish amber, not a lot of head. Tons of hop aroma along with smells of pineapple. Taste is seemingly of fresh, green hops, some malt behind it, but not too much sweetness or alcohol feel. I’ve always thought I liked IPA, but perhaps I’m tasting some really good ones thats making me like IPAs a lot more.

Pours brilliant and pure copper. Medium, foamy white head. Nose drips of caramel malt and spicy hops. Nice carbonation level, lot of crispness on the palate. Good amount of malt character underlying a solid bitterness on the finish. More resiny than floral or citrus. Despite similar bittering to the "Sumpin’ Extra" Ale I had last night, this one is much better balanced and drinkable. Good stuff, but still not remotely solid enough to become a favorite in this style.

12oz bottle thanks to TheSevenDuffs.
Appearance : Clear amber with medium creamy head. Extensive lacing.
Aroma : Nice fruity and piny. Lots of malt, a bit spicy. Very fresh and fruity. A bit sugary.
Taste : Nice fruity and malty. A bit piny and resinous. Finish is fruity, piny and quite malty. Rather bitter and a bit resinous. Citrusy finish. A bit sugary on finish.
Overall : Quite drinkable. Nice balance between hops and malt. Soft and enjoyable carbonation. Very nice IPA. I like Lagunitas !!
