May 15, 2008 Bottle: Poured a copper with an off white head. The aroma is sweet citrus and apricot with slight hops. Taste is gritty grapefruit citrus with hops.

May 15, 2008 On tap. Floral hop notes, grapefruit and apricot, fresh and vibrant. Medium sweetness and light grain. Nice aroma. Orange-amber clear with thin off-hite lacing head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation; fizzy burning on tongue. Starts with nice sugary sweetness, apricot nectar and mild resin. Super balance and not overwhelming in sweetness or bitterness. Nice sweet-bitter finish and fairly clean, considering. Really drankable IIPA.

May 14, 2008 pours a dense tan head. Aroma is piney citrus. Mouthfeel has a veryfull creamyness but still feels bright ands refreshing. Flavor is typical of a very good IPA - grapefruit and pine but unusual in its caramel malt flavor -great balance to the sharp citrus hop profile. Delicious.

May 14, 2008 Vibrant copper pour. Nice head. Grapefruit aroma. The taste is slightly medicinal which is what you would expect from a Double IPA. The alcohol is there but at 8.4% it is fairly well hidden. Good value and a good beer.

May 13, 2008 The aroma is a nice piney hop scent, surprisingly not at all overwhelming. A little grapefruit aroma in there too. Appearance is mostly golden, without the reddish tint you see in many IPA’s. Nice refreshing flavor, hoppy, again not too much so. Medium mouthfell, with slight stickyness. Palate has a citrusy hoppy feel. Good IPA overall, though I liked the regualr Lagunitas IPA just as much. Like most Lagunitas, it is affordable. It has good value given the good quality of the beer.

May 13, 2008 Just an awesome IPA here. Very serioius hops and flavor throughout. Surprisingly not overwhelming. Nicely balanced.

does not count  May 12, 2008 This beefed up version of the 22oz. Maximus has a bit more hops and in turn a bit more ABV. than the original. The six pack carrier say 7.5% but the bottle says 8.4%. My guess is that they didn’t update the six pack carrier this year.
On the beer side. This is one of the best deals price wise for a six pack of a great imperial I.P.A. It’s kind of hard to believe that a six pack of this cost only a dollar or two more than a good 22oz. Imperial.

May 12, 2008 22 oz bottle...Poured a beautiful golden yellow...the initial head had a yellow tint to it, but it evened out to a thick, rich, frothy white head that provided snake like lacing to the last drop. Aromas of citrus, florals, a little pine. Taste was very mild and balance which was very surprising. Great mix of hops, malts, some light citrus (sour orange/grapefruit), a little sweetness, and some pine. The palate was medium bodied w/ just the right amount of carbonation. The alcohol was well hidden, which would mean this can be a very dangerous session beer. I will definitely buy this again...
