DragonsHead (137), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 28, 2008 kick ass!! I love the Lagunitas Maximus. Incredibly crisp and citric. reall strong finish
Oak (4), NYC, New York, USA does not count Apr 28, 2008 Poured a dark orange with a small head. A bit watery if that is the right way to describe it for a IIPA but the flavor was very good. Tasted very citrusy with lemons and oranges and some other sweet flavors I couldn’t quite make out. Pretty good beer would definitely drink it again, but doesn’t have anything that makes it special. dkachur (2314), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Apr 27, 2008 Sampled in the presentation tent at WBF Raleigh. Light amber color with medium head. Nicely balanced sweet citrus hop aroma. Nice hop malt balance in the taste, though it falls short a bit at the back end before making one final comeback. Interesting. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 27, 2008 Bottle 65 cl. Average beige bubbly head that mostly lasted. Clear sparkling body with a pale amber looking color. Good display of lacework. Aromas of sweet flower, pine, citrus, grapefruit, apricot and light malt. Over the palate came nice sweet fruity notes with well balanced hoppy crisp and fresh feel. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and dry mild oily texture. Moderated bitter and sweet in a very balanced way. Dry bitter flowery finish. Quit different notes of hops and very drinkable. dkingsella (85), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 26, 2008 Pours a nice golden copper with a thick off white head. Leaves plenty of lacing throughout the session. Nice aroma of hops and pine. Flavor is pretty balanced for such a hoppy beer. Plenty of malt to keep things in check. Nice and resinous...sticky on the lips. Bitter hops finish. Very nice beer. 45thstbrewer (94), Conowingo, Maryland, USA Apr 25, 2008 Lagunitas Maximus is an orangish color IIPA that is pretty good but not one of my favorite Imperials. doppelmeup (51), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Apr 25, 2008 Nice looking sunshine yellow with a creamy, pillowy head. A nice lacing remains on the glass.
Fresh hoppy aromas of fresh cut grass, grapefruit, citrus and pine. I’m not always good at separating out the individual aromas, but this seems to hit them all!
Great taste. Bitter, as expected, but also fresh and slightly sweet to balance.
Creamy mouthfeel. Goes down very easily!
Overall a nice beer, and recommended.
BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 24, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear golden-copper color with a thick off-white head that left some nice spotty lacing. Aroma of light citrus, some earthy hops, and a light pine. Light caramel malt on entry leads into a sweet citrus flavor with a moderate hoppiness with a light earthy-leafiness. Smooth, lightly bitter finish with some decent bite. Not bad, pretty solid IPA. I would like to try it really fresh.
