doppelmeup (51), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Apr 25, 2008 Nice looking sunshine yellow with a creamy, pillowy head. A nice lacing remains on the glass.
Fresh hoppy aromas of fresh cut grass, grapefruit, citrus and pine. I’m not always good at separating out the individual aromas, but this seems to hit them all!
Great taste. Bitter, as expected, but also fresh and slightly sweet to balance.
Creamy mouthfeel. Goes down very easily!
Overall a nice beer, and recommended.
BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Apr 24, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear golden-copper color with a thick off-white head that left some nice spotty lacing. Aroma of light citrus, some earthy hops, and a light pine. Light caramel malt on entry leads into a sweet citrus flavor with a moderate hoppiness with a light earthy-leafiness. Smooth, lightly bitter finish with some decent bite. Not bad, pretty solid IPA. I would like to try it really fresh. Collint (452), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Apr 23, 2008 Bottle, pours a clear orange with an offwhite head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy! Flavor is bitter and dry hops. What a great deal for this beer only $3.50. This is a classic great Double IPA TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Apr 23, 2008 Nice and hoppy! I like this beer with its golden color and white lacing, to its hops in the nose and its amazing bitter taste...whats not to like! njduckman (6), USA does not count Apr 23, 2008 bottle. pours with a slight cream colored head. aroma notes of citrus and pine. First taste wonderful grapefruit notes. Finish was little to hot with alcohol. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 23, 2008 The Maximus name fits this 2XIPA, crammed with hops. More than just the standard C-hops, over the top bitterness. Thick bodied beer, one to savor not guzzle. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 22, 2008 The color was golden/orange. The head was creamy, thin, and white. The aroma was apricot, citris, and hops. The flavor was fermenting fruit, apricot, and hops. The palate was medium-bodied. The finish was warm. emacgee (1859), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 22, 2008 Finally in NC. Porus a copper amber with a sticky offwhite head. The pour is obviously more viscous than an average brew. The aroma is very intensely hoppy, resinous, citrusy, zesty. The flavor is also very intense, hoppy, waxy, bitter, citrusy, resinous, piney, earthy as well. Very nice hop flavor. Waxy bitter mouthfeel. very nice flavorful DIPA.
