The pour is obviously more viscous than an average brew. The aroma is very intensely hoppy, resinous, citrusy, zesty. The flavor is also very intense, hoppy, waxy, bitter, citrusy, resinous, piney, earthy as well. Very nice hop flavor. Waxy bitter mouthfeel. very nice flavorful DIPA. slang (397), Columbia, South Carolina, USA

Syrupy tongue touched by a hint of alcohol & a slightly sharp pine/grapefruit linger. Very nicely done, a real drinker. durhambeer (1200), Durham, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2008 Updated: Apr 28, 2008Medium to dark orange pour with small off-white head. Surprising nose at first--all I got was a deep astringent smell, but I could tell something was behind it... piney resin, malt, and faint grapefruit skin. Seemed overly resiny and perhaps sweet to me, not allowing the citrus of the hops to come out. Still, I’m intrigued as this was a pretty distinctive brew to me. Subsequent tastings may change my mind. My bottle was 8.4%, not 7.5%, by the way, and the alcohol was definitely present on the palate.
Note: second tasting revealing more citrus and better balance, though overall impression was a little astringent. I bumped it up a point. GJF (492), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 18, 2008 Poured at Firkin Fest at Triple Rock, a hazy gold with ecru head, aromas of floral piney hops and a touch of malt sweetness. The flavor comes in with a punch of caramel sweetness which quickly turns into a drying floral hop bitterness carrying pine and citrusy gratefruit notes. Nice balance that is enhance by the small cask experience. Good beer.
