dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2008 22oz. Poured hazy darkish orange with a white head. Nose was mostly hops and citrus, body followed with some more concentrated flavors and the slight notion of vanilla. Pretty enjoyable but nothing too crazy. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Apr 8, 2008 Pours a reddish-copper color into a snifter. Small head of off-white foam that quickly dissipates. This beer has a distinct piney-citrusy aroma that tastes like leaves a bit of piting pine in my mouth at the finish. This is the best Lagunitas beer I’ve tasted to date; still kind of mellow for a double IPA. Would definitely drink again. Good stuff. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Apr 8, 2008 12 oz. pours clear and copper with small head. mild citrus aroma with a bit of caramel. mouthful is bright with citrus and a smooth malt. finnish is crisp with little linger. great ipa. cblado (146), Wisconsin, USA Apr 6, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden-amber color with a slight white head. Aroma is very present, grapefruit/citrus and hops. Flavor is a very fruity, with tart hops and some grapefruit notes. Maximus finishes with a banana flavor and a hoppy aftertaste. One of the fruitiest IPA’s I’ve had, and I mean that in a good way. This is a very complex brew, something I’d recommend without hesitation. CheersMate1 (766), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 6, 2008 Nice looking beer. Has a very nice head, and a transparent caramel/gold color. The head doesn’t fade away very fast. Very piney aroma. My word this beer is aromatic. There is also a citrus hop aroma that I can smell. I have had a lot of IPAs and I truly believe that this is the only one that I have smelled where the hop aromas are seperated. The other IPAs you have to try very hard to smell the different hops used, but this is obvious. There is also a slight sweet aroma in this beer, bringing out the malty flavour. The citrus hop and the pine hop are coming through in the flavor, and the malty flavour is also there. The hops are everywhere in this beer. It is very good. The beer is not as creamy as I would like it to be, but it is very good. I am surprised by how good this is. Fairly impressed with the hop profile, but the palate is not up to par with everything else. mfaulke (81), clemson, South Carolina, USA Apr 5, 2008 This beer is exactly what they said. If you have had the Lagunitas IPA before, then this is pretty much a hoppier version of the same beer. It’s malty and sweet, and dangerously drinkable for 8.5%. The hops and malt are pretty evenly matched. The malt finally gives way to the a slightly bitter hops finish. The heavy malt presence reminded me of the Hop Devil. mugabe (215), Sweden Apr 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark amber with thin head. Wonderful floral aroma of grape, pineapple, spruce and hops. Taste is maltier and a bit caramel-sweet, dryer, but tasty, finish with quite a sting of alcohol. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 3, 2008 Bottle pours out an amber topped with a off white cream head. A very nice aroma of citrus hops. Tast more of the hops along with a little sweet caramel. Very nice brew to drink any time.
