OK IPA, but not that great. The finish is sticky sweet.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 chickenflea (227) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - FEB 6, 2010
12-0z bottle. Poured a beautiful golden amber with a touch of cloudiness. Thick off-white head. Not billowing but persistent. Left plenty of lacing on the glass. Bold aroma carried pine and citrus. Rich malty flavor with notes of honey. Hops came on strong but the lingering maltiness balanced it well. LONG finish. The flavor lasted and lasted. Rich and sticky on the palate, too. This is an excellent and substantial brew that satisfies those that crave hoppy goodness yet want something creamy and substantial. Drinkable as far as a double goes! An excellent brew.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 edward_violet (63) - Michigan, USA - JAN 31, 2010
Not as hoppy as Stone’s Ruination or Avery Maharajah... I’d recommend this first to anybody moving into DIPA territory. I’d say it’s in-between a normal IPA and a double.
Orange to amber in glass. Decent amount of sticky head.
Taste is comparable more to pine sap than pine needles (for a change). Mid-level carbonation.
Sour aftertaste and long finish.

Bottle. Orange colour with nice lasting white head. Aroma and flvour of hops, fruit (citrus) and honey.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tmoreau (1269) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - JAN 26, 2010
Chose a large snifter to enjoy this bottle of Lagunitas brew at Brixie’s in Brookfield, IL. Displayed a clear, golden amber tone, with thick, off white foam to the head, and clingy sheeting as lacing. The aroma was heavy, perfumy citrus, with some secondary pine, and caramelly malt and fruit sweetness. The flavor added a rich malt presence, substantial and supportive hop bitterness, malty sweetness, and light alcohol. I have always been a fan of the standard IPA, and the big brother is no exception.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 sinkr (322) - Lusby, Maryland, USA - JAN 24, 2010
Bottle->tulip: Pours a rocky, white, diminishing head that exhibits good lacing atop a carbonated, clear, amber body. Aroma grains and hops, perhaps with some honey notes in there. Medium bodied, long on the palate, mildly bitter, finishing astringently.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 HighWine (397) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 23, 2010
Golden copper color. Dense meringue head that fades but laces exceptionally well. Floral hop nose with grapefruit and other citrus. Taste is citrus, floral, and moderately piney hops. There’s a good amount of malt to hold up all of the hop flavors. Nice oily mouthfeel. It’s been a long time since I’ve had this and am really enjoying the reunion.
4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 Chalsk (824) - North Caldwell, New Jersey, USA - JAN 21, 2010
Pours a orange-amber haze with a thin head. Has an aroma of hops, caramel and malt. Very smooth and creamy. Sweet and malty up front, bitter on the back end. A decent body for the alcohol level. Reminds me of the DFH 120 in terms of color and body. But not in terms of sweetness and obviously abv. Leaves a decent amount of lacing. At 72.41 IBU’s, there are more bitter IPAs out there. The bitterness does not dominate, nor does the malt-sweetness. A good balance, good flavor.
