joeneugs (289), Livermore, California, USA Aug 3, 2009 Pours amber orange with a small off white head. Very fresh aroma of honey and grapefruit. Taste is caramel, grass grapefruit. It’s a little watery with a dry bitter finish. Quevillon (1518), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada Aug 2, 2009 Bouteille de 650 ml acheté le 9 juillet 2009, à Charles Street Liquors à Boston. Cuivre claire, petit collet. Arome d’houblon sucré licoreux, petits fruits muries. Aroma of piney hops and strawberry fruitiness. Flavor is quite fruity with moderate bitterness, lots of exotic-fruity aroma hops, and slightly sweet malty backbone. Medium body, very soft carbonation. A clean and well-made IPA, but maybe not so clearly on the Double IPA side. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 26, 2009 Pours an off-white lacing head with an amber-golden body. Smells of mellow floral, citrus, and resin hops. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Finish is bitter and sticky. Mellow and sweet, not sure if the bottle has some age. bsm80 (144), Massapequa, New York, USA Jul 19, 2009 Bottled, piny spicy aroma, some citrus, maybe orange, nice malty feel, terrific IPA. jb (1024), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 18, 2009 Similar alc. content to sumpin sumpin which I just tried, but this one is called an IIPA. This one is clear and orange. Pine nose. Very nice malty mouthfeel. This one favors the malt a bit more than some, but is nicely balanced. Nice beer. monkeychugg55 (214), Joliet, Illinois, USA Jul 18, 2009 Pours a clear copper with a rocky white head. Aroma is both citric and floral hops, and some sweet toffee malt. Flavor is a mildly fruity and malty. Kinda weak for a Imp. IPA. The malt is more enjoyable than the hop profile in this, and let me tell you there isn’t anything special about the malt. A little bit oily on the tongue, and slightly carbonated. Most of the Lagunitas brews I’ve had haven’t impressed me much and this is no different. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Jul 16, 2009 Bottle from Perry’s in Hayward. Yes, there’s also one in Hayward. Nose is sour hops, slightly underripe orange, grass. Flavor is the same. Must say, malt is very jagged in this one - very gritty and imbalanced.
