At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

An off-white, creamy head rests upon a clear, medium amber body. Very strong aroma of slightly overripe tropical fruits e.g. melon, also pine, pure hop pellets, caramel and hints of alcohol. A bit more fresh and hop-centric aroma than many DIPAs, although the malty elements are absolutely present. Strong flavour, again on the hoppy side, of well ripe tropical fruits, grapefruit, pine, resin, caramel and a tad too much alcohol. Moderate sweet taste with a heavy bitter long-lasting finish. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation, fairly dry. Tasty stuff!

Pours a clear medium copper with one finger of loose white head diminishing gradually to a dense cap and moderate lacing. Nose is piney hops with faint floral and citrus notes against a malt background. Taste is similar but more malt forward, with a little mango in the aftertaste. Mouth feel is medium-bodied, sustained by persistent mild carbonation, with a lingering bitter finish.

Bottle at the Brewdog Bar, Manchester. Gold amber with a rocky off white head. Aroma of malts, tea, bit of dark fruit. Flavour is hoppy with a fair smacking of malts, quite a fizzy palate. Nice enough but just didn’t stir me really.

Kind of like lagunitas sucks, just not quite as good. Lightly sweet pine and hop flavor.

Beautiful clear, golden color with a nice head. Tropical fruit aroma with some pine. Taste isn’t amazing, but very nice, good bitterness.

Pours hazy burnt orange with a small amount of off white head. Nose is really fresh tropical fruit. Pineapple, mango, passionfruit. Flavor is more of the noses fruits, a bit of grain and biscuit in the mid palate, with a spicy, slightly piney finish. At 8.2% you’d expect something pretty heavy but it remains pretty drinkable. Great.

golden, sparkling appearance with a frothy white head. hay, toast malt notes, floral, herbs, citrus hops takeover, barnyard notes. medium sweetness, very bitter with a medium body, thin feel, creamy texture, lively carbonation with a bitter finish. What a name. Sounds like a famous warrior. Great IPA!
