Bottle 33 cl, ØlKonsortiet. Pours clear copper amber with a creamy and bubbly beige head leaving lace. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruity, piny and grapefruit. Flavor is sweet, pungent, bitter, caramel, fruity, citric, tropical fruits and has a very nice malty base. Finishes dry, malty and bitter.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 VTHopHead (1340) - Barre, Vermont, USA - DEC 11, 2011
Bottle/12oz - Pours a darkish amber in color with a very small white head that quickly fades to nearly nothing. Aroma is heavy with resinous hops and toffee/caramel. Flavor is similar with plenty of hop bitterness offset by the malty understructure. Slightly sweet initially, but the hop bitterness wins over in the end. Lingering strong pine resin hop flavor and slightly sweet... Well constructed and very enjoyable!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HighlanderOne (748) - Bergen County, New Jersey, USA - DEC 10, 2011
Poured from bottle. Aroma of burnt sugar and hops. Copper, white head, lacing. Big pine/floral hops lead the flavor, followed with a burnt caramel with a creamy malt base. Not noticing the alcohol at all. About midway thru I really start to realize the amazing amount of hops in this. This beer gets better as I drink, leading to a great finish. A classic.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kronebryg (613) - Sorgenfri, DENMARK - DEC 7, 2011
Little head, cloudy deep yellow. Heavy hoppy caramel nose.fullbody and some length. Fresh caramel with hops. Quite sweet and heavy. Pleasant but saturating.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 drpimento (1695) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Another solid hit by the Lagunitas people. Served at a good temperature and with a nice cream colored, foamy, fine head that settled out after a while and good lacing. Color is a clear red honey amber with lots of tiny bubble trails. Aroma is hops, malt, caramel, toffe, bread dough. Flavor is much like nose and has slight sweetness, good carbonic tang, yeast, some citrus, and resin. Body n carbonation are nailed. Finish is like flavor, of good length, and slightly boozy. These guys make the beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 quiznoaz (144) - Arizona, USA - DEC 4, 2011
Dark golden poor, good head That lingers. Clean scent of pine and grapefruit. Initially bitter, but lightens to good hoppy flavor. The flavor continues to change over time, passing through citrus on its way to a faint and surprising bubblegum at the end. Very nice.
3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dbarnold (574) - Bethesda, Maryland, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Don’t mistake this rating as not liking the beer, it just had ZERO aroma. I swear, I thought I was smelling water. Palate and finish were awesomely bitter with a good west coast hop profile and not too much body or sweetness, which I hate in double IPAs. Good!
