nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 6, 2007 The aroma is super hoppy with pine and a biscuit maltiness. The appearance is amber with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. It’s rather bitter. The palate is smooth. Overall this is a good beer but not the best IIPA that I have had. larsga (2937), Oslo, Norway Nov 5, 2007 Small white head. Hazy orange body with yeast particles. Deep sweet firm straw and malt aroma with fruity medicinal notes. Honeyish. Dry sweetish straw and malts taste with medicinal notes. Clean, sharp mouthfeel. Very nice! (0.66l bottle at RBNAG’07.) mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA Nov 3, 2007 This beer was REALLY sweet for an IPA. It tasted like it was loaded with sugar and hops. It wasn’t bad, however it was a little too sweet for my liking. beerbomb (172), New Jersey, USA Nov 1, 2007 Pours cloudy burnt orange with small creamy head. Aroma is very malty sweet- sort of honey like- plus woody, resinous hops. Flavor is very malty, woody, and syrupy sweet like apricot as well as citrusy orange. Ends with sappy, woody bitterness and smooth, creamy palate. Not my favorite type of hopping, but good nonetheless....not sure if the hopping matched the malt increase for this IIPA tho. clingman71 (239), Centerville, Ohio, USA Oct 31, 2007 Bottle. Pours a light amber with a nice fluffy head, decent lacing. Aroma of caramel malt and citrus hops. Very citrusy start, has a little more malt sweetness in the middle than I am used to for an IIPA, but it finishes with a nice bit of hoppy dryness. This is a very solid beer, but not quite a Double in my opinion, sort of bigger than an IPA but not big enough to be a Double/Imperial. Semantics of IPA-IIPA aside, it is very enjoyable indeed, growing on me more as I work my way through the 22oz bottle. I see many more in my future. polomagnifico (532), Saginaw, Michigan, USA Oct 26, 2007 Aroma is flowery hops. Clear orange amber hue with an averaged sized head that left good lacing. Flavor starts fresh and ends bitter. Palate is watery and alcohol. A very good brew but alcohol is way to apparent for only 7.5% ABV. JLAudio (282), Crestwood, Illinois, USA Oct 25, 2007 Updated: Nov 2, 2007Poured a nice copper color with average sized head. The floral aromas are strong with some citrus notes. The flavor was nice, a little mellow for an IIPA though. Had bright grapefruit and pine flavors, with a nice caramel hint. The dry biscuity flavor is nice on the frontend and blends well with the respectable bitterness on the back. Overall, I did like the flavor and strength of this IIPA, but didn’t care for the structure or overall flavor of these hops...There seemed to be too much going on, with little impact of a certain variety of hops. Very drinkable Imperial with good complexity and flavor, but really wasn’t impressed with overall taste. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA Oct 24, 2007 Poured a bright, clear copper-orange color. Created a tight and dense 1/2" white head with decent retention and some wispy lacing. Slightly muted but pleasant aromatic notes of feshly cut oranges, grapefruit and pineapple. Smells of pine, biscuits and malts linger in the bcakground. Palate is fairly full and fluffy with a slight oily texture. Taste starts out with a nice citrus peel blast of bitter high alpha acid hops; crisp and lip-smacking. Soon to follow is a smooth tongue coating of subtly sweet caramel candy malt and tropical fruits to balance things out. Finish is slightly dry and bittersweet. Alcohol is faintly perceived in the background. Overall a solid and sessionable DIPA.
