| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2009 (Bottled) Almost clear copper-amber with a small head. Aroma of piney hops and strawberry fruitiness. Flavor is quite fruity with moderate bitterness, lots of exotic-fruity aroma hops, and slightly sweet malty backbone. Medium body, very soft carbonation. A clean and well-made IPA, but maybe not so clearly on the Double IPA side. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Pours an off-white lacing head with an amber-golden body. Smells of mellow floral, citrus, and resin hops. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Finish is bitter and sticky. Mellow and sweet, not sure if the bottle has some age. bsm80 (144), Massapequa, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2009 Bottled, piny spicy aroma, some citrus, maybe orange, nice malty feel, terrific IPA. jb (1034), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2009 Similar alc. content to sumpin sumpin which I just tried, but this one is called an IIPA. This one is clear and orange. Pine nose. Very nice malty mouthfeel. This one favors the malt a bit more than some, but is nicely balanced. Nice beer. monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 18, 2009 Pours a clear copper with a rocky white head. Aroma is both citric and floral hops, and some sweet toffee malt. Flavor is a mildly fruity and malty. Kinda weak for a Imp. IPA. The malt is more enjoyable than the hop profile in this, and let me tell you there isn’t anything special about the malt. A little bit oily on the tongue, and slightly carbonated. Most of the Lagunitas brews I’ve had haven’t impressed me much and this is no different. ajm (917), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Bottle from Perry’s in Hayward. Yes, there’s also one in Hayward. Nose is sour hops, slightly underripe orange, grass. Flavor is the same. Must say, malt is very jagged in this one - very gritty and imbalanced. Vertical Bacon Strips (888), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2009 Poured out a brew that is more orange than brown and pretty clear with some light floating sediment and a light, off white cap and minor lacing. Decent wafts of ample grapefruit that mix well with the malts. Very appealing. Melon as well. Good spice in the background. Tasty stuff overall. A bit too much of noticable alcohol, some yeast, some pepper, very nice malts and barely average hops. Fairly smooth mouth feel, light medium bodied, spicy finish that overtakes the bitterness. Malts in the middle. Decent burn. Ok but forgettable. tarheels86 (731), Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 13, 2009 Updated: Jul 21, 2009Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a one to two finger creamy, tan, rocky head that leaves very good lacing. Aroma is herbal (fresh, wet) hops, white pepper, strawberry cheesecake, Grand Marnier. Taste is same as above plus some spicy alcohol. Has a syrupy, medicinal quality like Grand Marnier or orange liquor. Cardboardy, dry, Brazil nut finish. I gave it sub par scores because this is much closer to a well-hopped barleywine like SN Bigfoot instead of an IIPA.
