theisti (1638), Leawood, Kansas, USA Aug 2, 2007 Updated: Aug 3, 200712 oz. bottle from Gregis. Pour is clear orange amber with a very big, thick off white head. Aroma is pine and citrus hops. Taste is big resinous pine and orange citrus. Very bitter finish. Overall a nice IPA. TechMyst (166), Fox River Grove, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2007 Got a bomber from Binny’s. Ended up trying this at a little warmer that what I would like, but I don’t think it will affect my rating. Quite a bit of head, hazy copper color. Full bodied, leaving a slick palate. High malt profile, nice bittering on the back end; no bee-sting nectar but still good. Tons of lacing which caked in rings down the glass. Faint aroma on this. This is good for sipping or slamming, so the drinkability is high on this. High alcohol content is not noticable. I actually thought this was their IPA (first offering I’ve tried from these guys.) But it is thier IIPA, they state it’s their IPA upgraded about 30%. Good but not overwhelming. Then I thought why does it have to be big; it’s very smooth, so my criticalness ended up melting away. minch25 (346), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 30, 2007 Clear copper orange body, medium creamy beige head. MF- chewy, resiny. A tad restrained in the hops department for the style; grapefruit, pine, soapy/sticky, hardly any sweetness. Short finish. Similar in flavor to Alpha King, but with a more oily texture. Well-rounded and never harsh. Not the most groundbreaking IIPA in the world, but still definitely good and great for the price($9 / 6). Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Jul 29, 2007 Orange colour, firm white head. Aroma: lots of hops and florals. Flavour: bitter, lots of hops and the dryness hits you in the face. skortila (2875), Bunnik, Netherlands Jul 29, 2007 Aroma is very hoppy, mainly the fruity ones, grapefruits. Orange coloured with a lasting, off-white head. Taste is a bit sweet and offcourse quite bitter. Very hoppy, mainly the fruity ones but there is pine and flower as well. Big knock-out this one. Don’t let it be your first beer of the evening. muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Jul 27, 2007 Bottle. Pours a nice copper, with a big, shiny, off-white head. Aroma is, of course, tons of hops, grapefruit and pineapple being the most prominent. Flavor is textbook Double IPA, strong maltiness, and aggressive hops of all sorts. This beer, however, manages to be noticeably aggressive, and suitable for rapid consumption simultaneously. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 25, 2007 Pint bottle. Pours copper orange with a beige head that quickly recedes to a film. Strong aroma of American hops, and maybe a little malt and spice underneath. I’m not sure. Taste is more balanced than I expected, as the hops initially wait in the background, allowing sweet caramel malt to make its presence felt. Then the hops step forward, overwhelming the malt with orange, pine needles, and spice. The bitterness lingers through and beyond the finish. Alcohol is well hidden; you feel it more than you taste it. Creamy mouthfeel. Good. blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Jul 25, 2007 Pours a beautiful rusty orange color with a small frothy head. This beer has a strong earthy/piney flavor along with the typical hoppiness IPAs are known for.
