4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bigben873 (63) - Virginia, USA - OCT 4, 2011
Aroma - Floral hops
Appearance - Clear medium amber, very light head
Taste - Medium malt and hops. Smooth but not light
Palate - Medium body; slight bitter finish
Overall - Not quite as smooth and as malty as most Imperial IPAs, but smoother and lighter than a typical IPA. Could get into trouble with this one...
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 callmemickey (710) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 2, 2011
A: Orange-amber body with a thick lasting offwhite head.. not much lacing..
S: Mostly citric and piney hops.. standard western ipa aroma.. not too strong of a malt background comes through the nose..
T: Suprisingly the malt seems to outshine the hops... a bit soft for a dIPA.. bready malts are tasty though.
M: Nice medium body.. smooth consistancy.. moderate carbonation..
O: Good all around.. just not quite as much of a hop barrage one would expect... might be a great introduction to the dIPA for someone who is a bit hesitant with the hoppy hops :)
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 DasBierChef (685) - Lucan, Minnesota, USA - OCT 2, 2011
Pours a clear golden orange. Aroma is full of hoppy goodness. Taste has a nice bit of malt to balance the hoppyness. A nice IPA! Better than their actual "IPA" by a long shot.
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 high_on_hops (122) - Missouri, USA - SEP 28, 2011
A very floral and piney scent with a medium off-white head and lots of lacing. The color is a deep orange, and the taste is full-bodied with lots of sweet citrus, grass, and hint of malt, and a long pine and citrus aftertaste. One of my favorite IPAs.
3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BucannonXC5 (247) - San Diego, California, USA - SEP 25, 2011
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 Poured from a bottle into a 24-oz. Steeler plastic glass. Color was caramel amber. Maybe ¾ inches of head. Light lacing. Film stayed throughout.
Smell was caramel citrus, along with some hoppy pine.
Nice balance of taste between citrus, caramel and pine. Bitter finish, but not too much of a bite. Smooth taste.
Medium body. Average carbonation. Smooth. Not as much alcohol as I thought.
Thought it would be better, but overall it was decent beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 humlelala (302) - DENMARK - SEP 23, 2011
(33 cl bottle from Gunnar Madsen Vinhandel) Pours a clear amber with little, off-white head and lace. Some retention. Aroma is of the classic hop bite variety - more bitter and piney than grassy, floral or fruity with some malty sweetness for good measure. Oily texture, full-bodied with medium carbonation and a long, bitter finish. Taste is quite bitter. Girlfriend says: "I thought it would be flowery but it’s only the bitterness that stands out."
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ClubGonzo (1734) - Bergen, NORWAY - SEP 19, 2011
Bottle. Clear orange body, small white head. Nuts, pine, hints of licorice and strawberries in the nose. Very smooth. Taste is even smoother: nutty pine tones, and hints of strawberry again, pretty much like taste but highly integrated. A solid West Coast IPA, despite the smooth and slightly sweet profile.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 laiti (1010) - Tampere, FINLAND - SEP 18, 2011
35,5 cl bottle @ hotel room, Tokyo. Bottled 11094010, BBE 06/2012
Aroma has sweet, sugary exotic fruits. Flavour is rather sweet with hops and exotic fruits, especially mango. Surprisingly thin palate. Yet another a-bit-too-sweet american DIPA.
