3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mrmartin (344) - Oakland, California, USA - SEP 16, 2011
Clear Amber-copper pour with tight eggy head. Piney hop nose. Sharp pine taste. medium body Long resiny bitter finish. A winner for hop heads but might be so piney that it is difficult drinker for non-hop heads. Pinier than Pliney, Racer 5, 10 15.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bsp77 (724) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Appearance: Clear golden-amber with thin white head and little lacing.
Aroma: Pungent sweet grapefruit, with light notes of orange and pine.
Taste: Grapefruit is the highlight here as well. However, the grapefruit is a little too sweet, candy-like and almost sickly. Light toasted malts offset the hops, but only serve to keep the beer in somewhat sweet territory. Slightly more dry and bitter on the finish with light accents of pine.
Palate: Smooth body with moderate levels of carbonation. However, the finish is not as dry as I would like an IPA or DIPA to be.
Overall: Based on the candy-like sweetness, I was going to post lower scores, but after warming a little, the sweetness dies off a little, probably because the sweetness strangely resides more with the hops than the malts. After some warming, it is a nicely balanced, enjoyable beer, but still not quite what I want in a DIPA.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 PlainsDrifter (60) - Adelphi, Maryland, USA - SEP 4, 2011
Good IPA. Pours amber with light tan head. Aroma of spruce, resin, some citrus and leaves. Slightly salty with bitter bite, but not overwhelming and smooth nonetheless. Lively carbonation, slick texture, astringent finish. This is a medium to full bodied beer that is very drinkable. Very flavorful IPA.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Koyo (239) - SWEDEN - AUG 22, 2011
Bottle from Ölbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. Aroma has a lot of bread and caramel from the malt and just a hint of floral notes from the hops. Pours a dark amber, almost brown, with a thick white foam. Taste is medium sweet, a little sour and slightly bitter. The bottle I had was probably too old to be enjoyed properly though. Medium carbonation and a slight oily feel on the palate.
