3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Vibrant copper pour. Nice head. Grapefruit aroma. The taste is slightly medicinal which is what you would expect from a Double IPA. The alcohol is there but at 8.4% it is fairly well hidden. Good value and a good beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Grapevin Mkt. $4.59 22oz. Yum yum gushing flavors and abundant cascades bring to the front of the nose all that is west-coast wonderful. Caramel and tangerines and medium bodied barley satisfy my five mile thirst. A bargain I’ll seek out again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours deep red-orange with some pink highlights. Small, diminishing cream-colored head.
The aroma is promising with lots of fir-tree hops and a fair amount of balancing caramel maltiness. The nose also picks up definite orange presence and suggestions of a perfume that I might as well call papaya.
The flavor profile is uncomplicated: bitter. There’s a little acidity, some halfhearted attempt at balancing sweetness, but not much. Just bitter. And some alcohol. I think the palate’s a bit on the thin side and there’s definitely some metallic tinge to the finish, which is fine.
I’ve had a lot of this style lately and this one doesn’t hold muster. Seems nice up front, but doesn’t back it up in the mouth.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2008 This is a good IPA..... Right up there with Lost Coast and LaConner in IPA’s from breweries whose name starts with the letter L......
Clear yellow gold color like Apple cider.
Aroma of soap, cut grass, white wine and apples.
Dry and medium astringent like white wine. Warming mouth that seems to melt away.....Very Nice palate.
Flavor fruity up front, then strong piney citrus hops balanced nicely by malt. finshes with pancakes + Jam.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells of lots of hops, of the Cascade variety. Pours a ligher shade of amber than I would have expected - filtered and see-thru. The head on this sucka is Maximus. Tastes like a good IPA should. You get that local brew pub hoppiness in this widly distributed brew. Nice. The taste left on the palate is plesent and dosen’t annoy. Thank God this is an UNLIMITED release!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle. Rich amber color and long lasting head. A little piney on the tongue and quite hoppy on the aroma but certainly not as bitter as one would expect from an IIPA

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This pours nice with a big long lasting frothy head that smells like complex hops and a hint of floral and fruit notes. It has a nice deep flavor with interesting cascade type hop finish. Seeing this was a ’Maximus’ IPA I was assuming it would surpass the hoppyness of their regular IPA... but it didn’t. It seems to have more balance and more maltyness.
