COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At the height of the heat in the heart of the summer, we felt that the only cure was a raging mouthful of fresh hops and malt. Caution: May remove enamel from teeth. This is Lagunitas IPA pumped up by about 30%!

This is a curious beer that is not really big enough to be a dipa, but is a bit too big to be an ipa. I can see why it is classified as a dipa, though, because the malt profile is what really stands out. This gave the beer a pleasant reddish color when poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter. It is sufficiently hopped to raise an appetizing aroma even through a 1 1/2 finger head, yet the primary flavor is of caramel complexity. Smooth and light in the mouth, itís much easier to drink 2 (or more!) of these relative to most dipas. The price ($11/6) also helps in that regard. Overall, this is a strong ipa or a weak dipa, as you prefer ... but is tasty and reasonably priced either way.

Bottle. Floral hoppy aroma. Clear light Amber color, with light white color to head. Flavor is a little citrus, with light pine. Medium body. Very nice DIPA!

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2014 22 oz bottle from Fred Meyer in Hillsboro, OR. Aroma is sweet, piney, and resinous, with hints of garden flowers and butterscotch. Mouthfeel is creamy and sweet throughout, with a slightly bitter finish. This has been a favorite of mine for years!

Pours beautiful clear amber with big creamy off-white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, caramel and light floral. Taste is bitter and sweet, light alcohol. Medium body, soft carbonation, bitter hoppy finish. A great double ipa.

Orange amber, quickly disappearing thin head and decent lacing. Citrus peel, resinous, earthy. A bitter wallop up front with even more bitterness on the wash. At 8.2abv and 72.41 I.B.U. this is some serious brew. More great stuff from Lagunitas. $10.99/12oz bottle sixer at Publix Boca Raton Florida.

the beer poured a rich copper color and i have no idea about the head or lacing (wasnít paying attention and it was poured into the biggest chimay glass ever!) flavor is easy with hints of pine, hops and malt (which creates a nice balance). very slight citrus/bitter flavor towards the end as well. i enjoyed this more than their ipa.

From a 22 oz bottle. Orange-brown pour with a one inch cream-colored head. Strong citrus aroma. Thick, slightly sweet body with a bitter, acidic aftertaste. A Decent effort.

Pours a hazy gold color, minimal head. Aroma is unsurprisingly, hoppy. Flavor is hops hops and hops with small but detectable alcohol taste.

Sampled from magnum bottle. Maximus pours clear copper with a dense, frothy, off-white head with sheets of lacing. A great looking beer. Its aroma is bursting with American hops, but the malts are present and accounted for as well. Flavor is nicely bitter, but a big malt presence adequately disguises the 72.41 IBUs. Caramel and peppery, piney hops dominate the flavor. Its nice, but really simple. Full-bodied, moderately-carbonated with a lingering, bitter finish. Very well made!
