3.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ElGaucho (1862) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - FEB 8, 2005
Aroma is not pleasant. I would probably prefer to take a whiff of a dirty sock. Clear copper in color. Sparse, slow visible carbonation. Excellent lace, but small head. Interesting flavor. Sweet, a little cloying with a solid alcohol profile. Nice overall, but would be hard to drink in quantity due to the cloying quality. A big beer. Hints of being really good, but doesn’t quite cut it.

Clear, golden pour. Typical Lagunitas style slw of west coast hops, with strong hop presence offset against malt. Alcohol was too visible, destroyed the balance. I very much prefer their Hairy Eyeball if I need a strong IPA. Disappointed by this one.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DCopperfields (145) - Alabama, USA - DEC 9, 2004
Clear copper with a frothy white head. Nose is mostly malt, not the hop explosion I expected. Mildly piney, but still a bit mixed with cooked caramel. Good hop flavor off the bat, but kind of a thin feel in the mouth. Certainly a very bitter aftertaste.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Mangino (1027) - Mississippi, USA - OCT 18, 2005
Sampled @ GABF- Pours a clear golden color, small white head. Aroma is citrusy, lemons and such fruit. Flavor is somewhat thin, astringent body with pine needles and light fruit notes. A slightly floral dry finish.

Pours amber with thick off white head. This one is past it’s prime so the hops are mild and not that noticeable as expected. More malty flavor due to it’s age. Will try again.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jackamackson (127) - USA - FEB 15, 2005
pours light amber with a white head. aroma is sub par.. tastes piney, citrusy, pretty much like a regular IPA but a little stronger. I can think of many other ipa’s i’d rather have, but this is still pretty good. far from the "raging mouthfull of hops" that it claims
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 nick76 (3598) - Tampa, Florida, USA - NOV 6, 2007
The aroma is super hoppy with pine and a biscuit maltiness. The appearance is amber with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. It’s rather bitter. The palate is smooth. Overall this is a good beer but not the best IIPA that I have had.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 mrhoppy (649) - Santa Clara, California, USA - JUN 3, 2009
UPDATED: JUN 15, 2009 I don’t get the high rating. It tastes like their boring IPA tripled up. Bitter upon bitter upon bitter. No complexity. Not horrible. Not memorable. Improves as it warms and fruitiness is released.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 11/20 Krausen (102) - USA - MAR 1, 2006
Quite dissapointing aroma, it was very light with some solvent and alcohol and a mild hop note. There is little in the way of hops in the flavor as well. On a good note, for such a strong beer this is extremely smooth and balanced beer. It is very drinkable but not the hop bomb I expect from a double IPA.

Amber, with a thick tan head. Sweet hoppy aroma, almost like the sweetness in fruit or flower’s aroma. Medium body with a bigger malt flavor than anticipated. A bit sweet and lingering in the finish.
