leeburg (92), Appalachian Trail, West Virginia, USA Jan 20, 2008 Pleasant surprise all-around here. Beautiful golden red color with a fast head. Sweet floral aroma of tart cherries, apple, orange. Sweet crisp greeting with some expected citrus, barely noticeable alcohol, and bitter but relatively clean aftertaste. The commercial description is cute, but I find it inaccurate. This was just a wonderfully pleasant, quaffable beer for the style, and at under $4 for a 22 oz., it gets my full enthusiasm.
DrDavid (354), Johnson, Vermont, USA Oct 11, 2008 (Bottle). Grassy, semi-sweet citrus aroma. Hazy copper-amber body, off-white head. Semi-sweet hoppy taste, mildly bitter rather brief finish. Ok, but can’t hold a candle to DFH 90-Minute, or to Stone Ruination. thewolf (3979), Kolding, Denmark Oct 11, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours lightly coppery golden with a great, creamy, small, off-white head. Aroma is hoppy, but with quite a malty balance. Slightly weak mouthfeel, but the ABV is a bit low. Super dry flavour, though, good hoppiness. Dryness, but not that much character, actually. Disappointing. HopsWhisperer (9), , North Carolina, USA does not count Oct 10, 2008 Nice looking sunshine yellow with a creamy, pillowy head. A nice lacing remains on the glass.
Fresh hoppy aromas of fresh cut grass, grapefruit, citrus and pine. I’m not always good at separating out the individual aromas, but this seems to hit them all!
Great taste. Bitter, as expected, but also fresh and slightly sweet to balance.
Creamy mouthfeel. Goes down very easily!
Overall a nice beer, and recommended.
FlssmrBrewAlum (245), South Chicago Suburbs, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2008 22 oz. bomber from Binny’s (Orland Park, IL). Pours a fiery orange hazy hue with notes of grapefruity red prominent and a sign of the tastes to come. Small to medium head that dissipates significantly but still manages to lace anok amount. Aromas are largely citrus, strong grapefruit and lighter caramel malt notes that are pretty great. Taste is similar, large bitterness up front with grapefruit and lemony prominance, middle body shows signs of caramel and biscuity malts, moves quickly back to grapefruit and bitter hop notes. Finishes with a crisp bitterness, but not astringent. Fairly smooth for the style. Pretty great! Cheers! BeerBaron617 (153), Novi, Michigan, USA Oct 8, 2008 I got this because every single beer I’ve had from Lagunitas has been amazing, and this is no different! It pours a darker amber, with a retaining off white head. The aroma is classic IPA with some citrusy notes, and some alcohol on the nose. The flavor follows suit with huge hopps and a slight bite of alcohol on the finish. This is definitely one of the better IPA’s I’ve had in a while, being very well balanced and drinkable. Cheers!
