4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 rajendra82 (808) - Alpharetta, USA - APR 1, 2005
From BA warriorsoul, this came in a 22 oz. brown bomber with a paragraph of musings on the edge of the label. The beer was poured into my trusty tulip, and looked very nice, with an orange body that contained a touch of haze. The head was perfectly proportioned at two fingers thick with a rocky, foamy, creamy appearance. Patches of clumpy lace clung to the side of the glass as the beer was consumed.
The aroma was grassy and herbal, and not as overwhelmingly hoppy as I had presumed it would be. The alcohol was poking its head through the hops as well.
The taste was where the hops showed up in a more assertive way. The bitterness was up front and center, but as the tongue adjusted, biscuit like caramel malt made an appearance. The finish was grapefruit and floral with a peppery tang.
Medium mouthfeel was closer to a single IPA than a DIPA I think. The body lacked the heft that other beers from the style typically possess. Nonetheless, the beer was mouth coating and satisfying. Aftertaste was bitter and dry, but a little short lived. Definitely a notch above the run of the mill IPA, and very drinkable, but not quite a DIPA
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 kdm1984 (153) - Missouri, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Pours orange-gold with small head and some top lacing. Smell is potent orange citrus - very, very sweet-smelling - and some pine. Taste is orange juice, pine, alcohol, and more orange juice. Teeny bit sour, but not enough to offend. Pretty unusual DIPA - would like a little more to the smell and flavor other than the big orange profile - but not bad. ABV well-hidden. Good mouthfeel for a DIPA. Might convert fans of screwdrivers.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Tycho52 (43) - California, USA - MAY 27, 2012
Pours copper with a thin head and virtually no lacing. Aroma is malty caramel and the taste is the same on the front end. For an 8.2% ABV, this doesn’t taste very alcoholic. At the back end on the tongue, the caramel and maltiness dissipates and a nice grapefruit with small amounts of citrus finishes the beer. Very enjoyable.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Lagerboy (420) - British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 19, 2012
Clear bright orange yellow, fine rocky white head lasts, leaving definitive stepped lacing. Strong piney citrus hoppy aroma and taste, with a subdued sweet caramel malt background. Average carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. Alcohol well hidden. Dry hoppy finish. Very good. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 nevets4433 (441) - - MAY 18, 2012
12 oz. bottle from a shaker. Pours a lively, vibrant yellow orange oclor with a small, cola-like tan head. Aroma has a lot of bright hop citrus character. Sweet and astringent. Taste has a lot of nice citrusy hop notes and a very mild, but well balanced caramel malt. Super dry in the finish. Very good DIPA. Not extreme with the hops, but very well balanced.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Discgolfin (28) - - MAY 15, 2012
Aroma rich bready malt caramel..hidden under big citrus...expected bigger hop aroma. Pours golden amber crystal clear with white head that goes away quickly. Big piny hop flavor with malty richness and alcohol finish..sweeter than expected...balanced toward malt, finish has sweet the lingers in palate.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jbruner (147) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Pours a nice copper with a great two finger head that dissipates and leaves solid lacing. Aroma is citrus and pine, all hops. Taste is also pretty much all hops, a bit of alcohol burn. Nice california DIPA.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kryon (270) - SWEDEN - MAY 13, 2012
Pours copper with low head.
Aromas of caramel malts, brown sugar, toffee, hoppyness of some tropical fruits
Very nice palate that starts out sweet almost vanilla fudgy like and moves over to a medium bitter ending. Some oakyness there as well. Really good!

Lucious, one of the better IPA’s I’ve ever tasted. My wife normally doesn’t care for IPA’s, and she loved this one.

Hops don’t overwhelm the flavor. Alcohol is smooth. Light on the palate. Clean finish. Great with spicy food--just had mine with jerk chicken.
