COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

Bottle on Larkspur to San Francisco ferry. Smell is of juicy pineapple and mango. Taste of mango, some pineapple and tropical fruits. Medium bitter finish. Really enjoyable beer this one. Easy going.

BOD 038 14. Clear light amber (golden) pour. Massive thick head with excellent lacing and retention. Nice nose of citrus, mostly grapefruit and orange but sweet tropicals are also quite noticeable, coupled with a light spruce over a slight biscuit sweetness. Medium bodied with a nice slick texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a nice effervescent finish. The flavor profile is a complex blend of hop flavor that leaves the sweet biscuit in the background. It begins as a tropical blend with grapefruit in the forefront, then flows into a grapefruit / orange rind like bitterness. As the bitterness subsides, a touch of biscuit sweetness evolves that highlights the orange hop component. The finish is tart with a burst of effervescence that leaves a slight rind like lingering bitterness. An outstanding well crafted pale ale.

Reviewed from notes. I’ve always have had this in pint glasses. The appearance was a hazy orange to brown color with a decent half finger-ed white foamy head that left some light lacing in a nice spider web sort of fashion. The smell had an ample amount of citrus - like hops to sweet caramel malts, balanced extremely well. The taste was once again extremely balanced. The aftertaste lead with the citrus -like hops and it ended up with a dry finish. On the palate, this one sits about a light to medium with a good sessionable quality about it. There’s a decent harshness pounding my tongue. Overall, I say this is a good APA worthy of having again.

Clear, light amber colour. Lots of flowery hops and citrus aromas. A distinct mango association in the mouth and a rather gentle bitterness. Nice.

Pours golden color with a white head. The aromas is citrus, malty, floral and bread. The taste is citrus, peach, grass and biscuits. A very solid American Pale Ale. Not to much citrus notes, but very drinkable.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear yellow with a medium frothy white head that retains fairly well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is biscuity malts and grassy, slightly metallic, hops.

The flavor is sweet biscuity malts with a pretty big grassy hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with sharp carbonation.

Overall, an OK pale ale with good bitterness. The biscuit malt and grassy hops aren’t my thing though.

Pours a nice head, with a golden color. Aroma is grapefruit, lemon, orange, a lot of those hoppy notes you’d expect. Taste is some malt up front, but not too much. Lots of citrus, and grapefruit. On the hoppy side for a pale ale. Light carbonation, not enough for my taste. Maybe not exactly my style, I prefer a maltier pale ale, but I can appreciate that this is definitely a high-quality beer.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2014 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/20/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep gold color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity of bright citrus/floral hops and moderate pale malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of bright citrus/floral hops and moderate pale malt sweetness; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent pale ale! All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus/floral hops and pale malt sweetness; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
