COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

Heavy flavor from the American hop. Good citrus taste with fine bitterness. Tastes like an IPA.

Bottle purchased at the Wegman’s in Niagara Falls New York. Pours a pure copper colour with a fair sized white head that leaves behind these tiers of lacing like rings. Smells fresh and almost caramel. Tastes sweet and a little bitter (which hits the back of the tongue). Nice underlining of maltiness.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2012 Pours orange brown. A delightful aroma of malts and some light citrus. A really smooth taste of hops and some burnt malts. Super hoppy, lightly carbonated pale ale.

Grapefruit and pine hop aroma. A clear mild amber color. Mild bitterness. Sweet grapefruit sourness. Refreshing but the sourness kind of lingers in the finish.

Biscuit-like malts and citrus in aroma. The flavor is citrus, grapefruit, malts and a hint of hop resin. The malts and hops in this were balanced well, a very good APA.

On tap poured into a pint glass. A: light tan amber color with a foamy 2 finger head, gobs of head retention and lacing rings S: slight citrus hop aroma, light caramel T: grapefruit and slight orange molds well with a caramel malt base. Very nice M&d: medium mouth feel, well carbonated. Not drying like some pale ales. Very easy to drink. I think this beer would make a good beer for changing of seasons from hot to cool or visa versa.

Light amber pour with a white head. Aroma is fruity, malt. The aroma invites you to take a sip. It is niocely balanced. A little fruity, nice malt backbone. Nice aftertaste and lacing.

Poured from a 12-oz. bottle into a pint glass. Color was pale, fairly clear. A bit like apple juice or very dehydrated urine. About 1 ½ fingers of head. Nice lacing on the top with some circular bubbles, that lasted throughout. Foamy head on the sides, pretty sporadic. The first smell was citrus hops, which was a pleasant surprise. Kind of a mixture of lemon and grapefruit, probably more grapefruit. Also got a small whiff of caramel sweetness, but very minimal. The taste wasn’t as much like the nose as I would have hoped. Definitely more pale notes than the hoppy taste. Grainy and wheaty. Pretty smooth. Light body. Thin texture. Soft-to-average carbonation. Bitter, but somewhat smooth finish. Overall a decent beer. I guess I was secretly hoping for something a bit better since it’s Lagunitas, but I’d have it again.
