COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

Tasted 6/16/10. 12oz bottle. Filtered with a dark golden hue. Brainy off-white ehad. A lot of citrus in the nose with an accompanying graham cracker note. Undertones of maple and caramel. Good sweet nose. Big and full bodied for an APA. A lot of bright hoppy flavors. Good effervescence. Sweet bready malts adds a nice dichotomy to the grapefruit hoppy bitterness. Solidly produced and very nice drinking! Top notch, but given the heavy handed hop folks at Lagunitas, itís no real surprise.

bottle-i was very suprised by this one! I wish i had access to this all the time because i would have it all the time in my fridge. clear dark orange with a small soapy white head. piney, grassy green hop nose with lots of grapefruit, fresh cut grass-german hops? flavors show the hops and the malts exhibit a cereal quality. hop flavors are herbal, lightly piney and green/fresh. I really dig this thing-very simple, but for me, those are the best types of beers. a great pale ale with a great hop character. next time i see this one, im stocking up!

12 ounce bottle - $5.50 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia. Appearance: Pours out an ever so slightly hazed, copper-toned body with a smallish, white head and filled with steady streams of continued effervescence. Smell: Pale malts accompanied by light scents of grainy bread and caramel set against fair, equating wafts of citrusy, earthy hops. Taste: Again, slender pale malts with a taste of raw barley grain coated in sweet light caramel. Earthy, citrus hop combination with touches of lemon and pithy grapefruit. Medium-plus bitterness. The body thins out prior to reaching the expectedly dry, bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: This brand new Dogtown PA is nothing more than solid, simple, and adequately quaffable.

strong aroma of newly peeled grapefruit, really unusual and inviting...slightly cloudy amber orange appearance fluffy white head good lacing..taste is a tingly very refreshing dose of citrusy hopsand more citrusy hops, maybe resiny piney hops blended in..I didnt mention much maltiness? because theres not much to mention, the bare minimum..easy to drink, pound down or just sip and enjoy very flavorful especially for the low abv

Really nice beer. Had this on a 90 degree day and it really hit the spot. Poured a dark gold and a lite head. The smell was pretty hoppy a slight pine hint and a distinct aroma of a certain hop cousin. Very nice hop taste and a good bitter ounch in the finish. Good beer.

Floral and hoppy aroma with a strong grapefruit scent. Dark gold color with very nice head retention. Grapefruit and citrusy flavors with some light malt for support. Quite hoppy and bitter for the style but not surprising coming from Lagunitas. Some herb and lemon zest mix in as well. A touch of pine too. Ho hum, another very well done hoppy beer from Lagunitas. I love this brewery.

Bottle purchased at Buyrite Liquors. Apperance: Pours a perfectly clear orange amber color with a nice 2 finger slightly off white head. A mixed sized collection of bubbles form a rocky head with good retention and lots of lacing. Smell: The nose is all west coast hoppy goodness...with strong floral notes, some bitterness, some grapefruit in the background, some wet grass and perhaps jasmine. Not overpowering but a real treat to smell. Taste: Pretty much drinks like an easy drinking IPA. Then again when you consider the difference btw west coast IPAís and east coast IPAs, I guess a "west coast pale ale" pretty much resembles an east coast IPA in a hop sense. I was relieved to find that the taste isnít as bitter as the nose. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and extremely crisp. Lots of carbonation. Drinkability: Quite easy to kick back considering the crispness and ample carbonation. I was pleasantly surprised by Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale Ale and will return to this brew again in the future. Golden pour into the glass, with a frothy head that reduces to nothing, including lace. The nose is of wet, resinous sticky pine. Flavors are very similar, bitter from moment one, with just a smidgen of citrus to balance out the pull. The finish is of resinous pine. Lingering bitters here are very nice. Medium-bodied and easy drinking with perfectly integrated carbonation, this is a nice APA. Good job.

12 oz bottle. Pours to a deep golden color with a small head. Bubbles keep on. Upfront is mostly pine with some resin as well. Smooth body thatís slightly less full than a Sierra Nevada and crisp grapefruit finish thatís perhaps a measure sharper. Itís well-hopped, but the flavor doesnít linger (maybe less malt to carry it?). I give the slight edge to the Sierra Nevada -- one of all-time favorites -- butm yet again, Laguintas has produced a winner.
