COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

Smells strongly of bittering hops. This is quite a bitter beer, little balance in hop type. A very dry finish. Certainly not one of their better beers; seems more like an IPA than a pale ale.

Nice hop aroma - floral, grass... almost like an IPA. Golden to amber color, clear, minimal head. Medium body, clean finish. Good pale ale, but closer to a mild IPA than many pales.

bottle... pours a deep golden with an average white head.... which lasts a good bit... big citrus hop notes on the nose... a medium body with caramel malts and more citrus hops. well balanced, big APA ... could easily pass as an IPA... nice lasting finish. solid use of hops and a very nice drinkable session beer.

Man, I donít see how this beer is regarded so highly. Average smell and carbonation. As for the flavor, very one dimensional with an aftertaste thatís very bitter and poor. Boo Lagunitas. Drink it very cold and very fast.

Tap at Craft Ale House. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma of caramel, mixed citrusy hop notes. Flavor of caramel malt, nuts, grapefruit and light pine. Moderate hop bitterness.

12oz bottle. crystal clear gold with some bubbles under a medium sized, soapy white head. lychee hop aroma more towards the floral side of things. flavor is moderately bitter with flavors of watermelon, lychee, and citrus. light to medium bodied. hint of sweetness. juicy texture.

12oz bottle from Whole Foods. Pours a clear, honey-colored body with some off-white head thatís sticky and leaves lots of lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops (orange) up front, light sweetness and some piney hops. Flavor is pine/resin hops, medium sweetness, (slightly unbalanced) and a mild, resin hop bitter ending. Fine carbonation and a medium to full mouthfeel.
