This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

12 oz. bottle purchased at Tower Liquors, in Fuckhead, Georgia. Copper-colored body with an orange hue. This beer is transparent, with a SLIGHT haze. The head was fluffy at first, but then faded to a wispy/spotty head. Looks good for your average A.P.A.. Citrus hop aroma is quite nice. Sweet malt and sugar aroma are there as well. The citrus hop aroma is borderline fruity hop aroma. I know citrus relates to fruit, but I’m talking more along the lines of a non-citrus fruit aroma. The aroma is decent but nothing mind blowing. At first I get the citrus and bitter flavoring hop. The aforementioned flavors develop into a bittering hop flavor that lasts. The citrus hop profile is short lived in terms on noticeable flavors, but the bitterness sticks around. Basically, you are getting bitter without citrus qualities. Easy to drink, but the texture isn’t quite where it should be. This ale is easy to drink, and I will venture to say that this is quite sessionable, but given the high ratings, I was expecting more.

Copper-orange color with a white head. Excellent lacing! Aroma of hops, caramel, and some citrus. Bitter flavor-especially at the back end. Lots of hops pervade this beer with some caramel and citrus. Strong for an APA.

Very enjoyable pale ale with Lagunitas’ characteristic hops. A contender to Blvd. pale ale?

12 oz bottle pours a bright copper-orange. Nose has a light vanilla sweetness and almost a hint of citrus. Taste is big sweet with bit of hoppiness, caramel, vanilla, and the citrus sweet in the back. Nice beer.

Poured up on tap at the Tampa PourHouse. Pours deep gold with thin white head. The aroma while very cold is mild and sugary. As it warms sweet sugary citrus rises up to please the senses. The taste produces ample citrus hop goodness and slowly bleeding into a modest level of malts and malt graininess. It really opens up as it transitioned from being served too cold (currently being fixed at the PourHouse) to higher temps. Yummy stuff with loads of citrusy goodness.

Clear orange, massive pillowy white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and caramel. Taste is more bitter up front and has good malt balance. Medium body, smooth. Bitter finish.

12 0z bottle from Roths Sunnyside Market Nice clear light copper coloured ale, with a small yet persistand egg-shell white head. Copious lace. Vibrants aromas of spicy/grapefruit like hops and honeyish malts, quite elegant actually. Taste is on the sweet ,honey malt side, but the vast hop conspracy isnt far from the surface and busrst through in all its juicy, fruity glory at the back of the mouth. Very good mouthfeel for style, thicker than usual but still well drinkable. Overall a really nice APA.

12oz bottle from the Kroger, yo. Clear amber pour, crisp carbonation, and a nose which is appealing, even if by the numbers. Crisp light hops with solid malting. Body is prickly and playful, and you could definitely suck down a sixer of this with ease. The taste is light and dry for the most part, with the bready flavors there for framing and thankfully not too intrusive. Well done and hits the mark.

Bottle. Appearance is bright golden with a thin layer of white head. Aroma is floral hops, ruby red grapefruit and a hint of toasted malt sweetness. Flavor begins with strong, tangy grapefruit and tangerine citrus flavors followed by piney hops, caramel and medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is very dry with medium-to-heavy carbonation. It finishes crisp and bitter with a strong citrus aftertaste. Overall flavor is heavy on the citrus and dry hops. Very satisfying Pale Ale and one of the better ones on the market.

Bottle… Clear golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. Resiny, herbal bouquet with additional notes of grapefruit and earthy pine. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with jazzy carbonation. The flavor is citrusy and leans on the bitter side of balance. Crisp, medium-bitter finish.
