This is not the original Pale Ale as brewed in far away 1993 in the back of the Old House of Richards Building in West Marin hamlet of Forest Knolls right next to little Lagunitas. It is way better. Back then the beer tasted like broccoli and kerosene and the carbonation ate right through and drained your stomach into your gut...

On tap poured into a pint glass. A: light tan amber color with a foamy 2 finger head, gobs of head retention and lacing rings S: slight citrus hop aroma, light caramel T: grapefruit and slight orange molds well with a caramel malt base. Very nice M&d: medium mouth feel, well carbonated. Not drying like some pale ales. Very easy to drink. I think this beer would make a good beer for changing of seasons from hot to cool or visa versa.

12 oz bottle served in a pint glass. Pours bright orangish copper with medium creamy off-white head. Aroma is lightly sweet caramel malt. Taste is clean chewy medium caramel malt, lightly spicy and dry hop flavor on the back. Really pleasant clean and balanced pale ale.

Medium aroma with citrus and sweet malts. Light golden color with medium, natural white head. Lightly hazy liquid. Medium, fresh taste with citrus, malts and pine. Some bitterness and hops. Balanced with medium taste spectrum and medium, malty and slightly hoppy aftertaste. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overally good performing, balanced beer.

This poured a golden yellow with a white head. Aroma was of tropical and citrusy hops. Flavor was similar, moderate mild grain, and fruity. Nice.

Rated on 12-28-2014 at 800 Degrees Three Fires (Fort Wayne, IN) This draft beer presents a small beige head with a long retention, amber transparent body, no visible carbonation, and a good amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is citrus, pine hops, grassy, herbal, grapefruit, bitter, and malt. The flavor is citrus, pine hops, grapefruit, herbal, grassy, moderately bitter, and toasted malt. This beer is medium bodied. This is a quaffable APA that is quite bitter tasting and a beer for hop heads.

Strong aroma for a pale ale. Pine hops and a grass/woodsy scent. Standard golden color with a massive white head of large bubbles. Tiny bubbles of carbonation rising from the bottom. Good refreshing taste, although a little more bitter than most lagunitas beers. Palate is slightly watery. Not bad, but lagunitas has set the bar high with all of their great IPA's. I prefer any lagunitas IPA to this pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
