There are two kinds. There is the DayTime kind, which is bright and welcoming and then there is the NightTime kind, which should never be confused with the DayTime. NightTime is dark and deep and may take you to unexpected places, places that the DayTime cannot. But then, the NightTime is not suited for ordinary life and ordinary tasks. In fact, NightTime may be the answer for that sort of thing, meaning that those sorts of things may never get done. Things take time in the NightTime, things slow down and you can puase (you have to, actually) and investigate carefully to find that level of objective detachment that is only possible under the spell of the NightTime. Seek the Day, but fear not the Night.

UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 well this is an interesting one. the appearance is coca-cola dark brown with a nice light brown head. the aroma is.... interesting. There is pine and resin present, and also juicy mango and grapefruit. it?s very pleasant. Lots of citrus, resin, pine, and floral notes here. The slightest bit of roast is there, almost non-existent. The more I sip on it the more I like it. Nice sticky mouthfeel, too.

Astonished. Excelent balance, hops are plenty but not boring as a lot of IPAs. Toast malts are present, in a suitable way, but leaving hops show. Congratulations !

Bottled. Deep brown color with a black center. Medium to low carbonation. Smoky malt aroma with pine needles and toast. Flavor is peppery and floral with a smoky peat tone underneath. Smoky malt hides the caramel flavors expectant of a strong IPA. Finishes with lasting bitterness and a bit of coconut and chocolate. OK

Bottle: Clear, black, thick head & good lace. Hops dominate with black malt. Clean and intense. Palate is dry, not sour but very bitter. Reasonably fresh for a black beer. Good intensity. It lacks complexity. Classic West coast IPA but its dark.

This beer is terrible. I get that people love a big hop flavor, but this is all you get in this brew. Nothing but hop. No balance, just bitter. Just gross ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with a tall, creamy, then chunky tan head. Aroma is dark caramel, dank hops, citrus, passion fruit heavy tropical notes, a hint of smoke an odd onion-like note, a touch of iodine and some odd salty mushroom notes. Flavor is big, sweet dark caramel, lots of soy sauce, probably more clearly than I have ever recognized the note in a beer, save perhaps bad bottles of Sam Adams Triple Bock, light peat-like smoky notes, old onion, overcooked scrambled egg, sweet citrus, passion fruit and oily roasted malt. Medium body, creamy to oily feel and light, but sharp carbonation. Itís surprisingly decent overall, despite its flaws.

Bottle from six pack aroma. Big grapefruit hop nose, tropical fruit, sweet melon, dark sweet jams (blackberry?), little to no roast. Flavor of beef jerky, salt, umami notes. Bitter hop notes. Overly boozy, touches of soy sauce on the back end.

Pours black color with a creamy Nitro-like head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate and hops. Nice. Flavor is lots of roasted malts, chocolate, some hops in the middle. And a hoppy bitter finish. Great black IPA.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with tall, long lasting, fluffy beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is of citrusy hops, tropical fruit and toasted malt. Body is full and tangy. Citrusy hops dominate the palate while dark fruit, toasted malt and coffee linger in the background. Finish is long, and dry. Iím not a fan of the style, but this is one tasty brew.

Motor oil black pour, creamy tan head with decent lace. Nose is fresh pine. Bitter. Middle is spruce sap, earth, dark malt, and a hint of chocolate. finish is piney, bitter, and long. Very well hidden ABV, just part of the profile.

12 oz bottle pours black with a light brown head. A minimally hoppy aroma, with burnt coffee or cocoa and wheat. Some very interesting flavors. This brew is a bit thin, soft carbonation but it finishes slowly. I wasnít sure at first, but it grew on me. Itís solid.
