There are two kinds. There is the DayTime kind, which is bright and welcoming and then there is the NightTime kind, which should never be confused with the DayTime. NightTime is dark and deep and may take you to unexpected places, places that the DayTime cannot. But then, the NightTime is not suited for ordinary life and ordinary tasks. In fact, NightTime may be the answer for that sort of thing, meaning that those sorts of things may never get done. Things take time in the NightTime, things slow down and you can puase (you have to, actually) and investigate carefully to find that level of objective detachment that is only possible under the spell of the NightTime. Seek the Day, but fear not the Night.

well this is an interesting one. the appearance is coca-cola dark brown with a nice light brown head. the aroma is.... interesting. There is pine and resin present, but then there’s an oil-like aroma. It reminds me a whole lot of the plains of northern Texas: you know that smell of oil? Yea it’s strange, and I’m not sure what to make of it. Thank goodness the taste doesn’t follow the aroma. it’s very pleasant actually. Lots of citrus, resin, pine, and floral notes here. The slightest bit of roast is there, almost non-existent. The more I sip on it the more I like it. Just not a big fan of the aroma, unfortunately. Nice sticky mouthfeel, too.

Bottle. Moderate to heavy roasted and caramel for the malt, Moderate to heavy pine for the hops, light leather for the yeast, with tar, toffee and licorice in the background. head is small, frothy, light beige with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly to moderately sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a lively to fizzy carbonation. Nice balance betwen the malt and hops in this tasty Black IPA.

Rating the day after: Nice balanced beer. Pours dark and does not taste like an 8.2% beer. Will definitely be buying again.

Bomber. Clear deep dark ruby hued brown, solid tan froth settles and lasts. Piney citrus dark roast aroma. Taste is juicy fruity citrus hops well balanced with smooth darker malts, some earthy herbal pine notes, faint hints of black licorice and chocolate, some spiciness. Softer carbonation, medium-full bodied, well hopped. Long bittersweet finish. Well done. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

Complex aroma of coffee, chocolate and a hint of anise. Dark brown color with a small tan well laced head. Creamy feel with a chocolate and coffee taste. A delicious coffee finish.

Terrific beer. Gorgeous lacing and wonderful hoppiness. I don’t recall it being quite so tasty in a bottle. Hard to believe its abv is 8.6

Rated on 7-27-2014. This bottled beer forms a medium sized smooth tan head, opaque dark brown body and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is citrus, pine, perfume, and herbal hops. The flavor is moderate bitterness, pine, citrus, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable. However, I find it to be too bitter tasting for my liking. It has a lingering bitter aftertaste that is not too offensive.

Aroma has salty licorice and some cocoa. Flavour has salty licorice, deep roasted tones, tobacco and hints of ash. Also some tea(!). A bit too salty and thin but nice anyway.

Huumaava mutta keskeneräinen tuoksu. Lämmettyään taas perus Mikkelleriä. Perus musta väri, häviävä vaahto. Kuivahko. Tässä kännivaiheessa valitettavasti ei voi eritellä enempiä. Sanotaan että OK. OK. OK.

Bomber. Courtesy of Timo A. Enjoyed at the ISKTR 2014. Reddish brown colour with a tiny tan head. Quite fresh hops, mild bitterness, dark malt and some herbal notes in the aroma. The flavour is darkish hops, bitterness, toasted malt and dryness. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

65 cl bottle @ ISKTR 2014.
Pours dark red color with a small head. Lots of hops here even though it’s not fresh. resinous, pine and caramel too. Bitter fruity palate, caramel, resin, some wooden notes too. Might contain some house flavor. Nice.
