Bomber poured to a tulip. Clear copper with a decent off white head and nice lacing. Aroma is big and boozy. Toffee, caramel, malty, slight citrus, and pine resin. Flavor follows. Toffee and caramel in a big way. Grapefruit and pine are there, as well as some thick, doughy flavor. It’s a bit boozy and on the thicker side. Awesome beer.

Bottle. Amber with small head. Rich boozy barleywine. Toffee and caramel. Light fruitiness. Nice balance. Not as hoppy as I expected from Lagunitas, but there’s good flavor here.

GABBF, medium amber, cream colored head. Aroma fruit and malt. Taste tropical fruit candy! This is sweet, but tasty! Palate is rich, carb subdued.

Tap at Harry’s in Redwood City. Beautiful aromatic blend of honey, caramel and toffee bites. Clear ruby with chunky oatmeal head. Rich, rich, rich caramel and blackstrap molasses flavor. Solid cedar and floral hops. A little tar at the end. Delightful.

Many bottles over the course of 2015. This beer is impressive in just about every sense. The clear, ruby color of the pour is phenomenal and draws you in (I even tried -- and failed -- to make a homebrew clone just to match that beautiful color), the nose is stone fruits and hops, and the flavor goes from hoppy barleywine to malt treat over the course of 6+ months. Even better is the ~$6 price point. Excellent beer.

650ml bottle from Systembolaget, vintage 2015. Clear amber with a dense tanned head, rich lacing. Wonderfully rich aroma of caramel, toffee, dark sugar, red apple, plum and dried sticky figs. Thick oily mouthfeel, mildly carbonated. Complex malty and dried fruit taste biscuits, caramel, brown sugar, herbs, pine, apricot, orange marmalade, raisins and dried prunes.

22 oz 2015 bottle. Clear dark copper colored body with a modest size head that has great retention. Fine lacing. Sweet, slightly boozy aroma. Well-balanced flavor with good complexity for style. Excellent, smooth mouthfeel for over 10% ABV.

Bottled 2015 vintage. Pours beautiful red, copper, white head. Gorgeous looking beer. Aroma is delicious fig, dark fruit, raisin, cherry, orange, definite citrus notes. Flavor is fig, cherry, dark fruits, raisin, malt, big citrus hops, caramel, maybe a spot of toffee, definite pine and hops that come through, then subside, then come back with a mild lingering bitterness. Like a toned down BigFoot - hopwise. 100% my kind of barleywine. Absolutely phenomenal.
