4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
From the 650 ml. bottle. 2015 (Twenty-Fifteen) edition. The pour is a beautiful looking reddish amber with little to no head. But that is OK. Great clarity. Aroma - well most Barleywines have a distinctive acerbic barely malt character and in some cases they can be boozy. This is neither of those. Yup, there are barley malt characters but I also pick up a sweet fruitiness in there along the lines of berries. Medium to full body. The taste emphasizes the fruity characteristics before the malty characteristics. But they are both there. Some Barleywines can be cellared and they mellow. I expect that would be the case here but I prefer this one fresh.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bomber into a Lagunitas pint glass dark amber with a tan head which tells me this is an American Barley Wine. First time to consume this annual release (was I sleeping thru the prior releases???)
Aroma is sweet toffee some hops.
Flavor is caramelized sugar thick with hops. Better than just tasty!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear dark red copper pour with a cream colored head that fades to a cap. Tons of fine lacing. Hop forward aroma with pine and citrus zest with a sweet caramel background. Taste follows the nose with additional candied fruits added in. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium, slightly sticky body. Nice beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
pours a red amber with a tan head that does not hold very long. Aroma is orange, grapefruit, candied sugar and more hops than I expected. flavors of orange and grapefruit hit you right away. The caramel and toffee hit you at the back end and then you get an astringent dry finish. Medium body. Slick/oily mouth feel and its a little sticky on the lips. The alcohol is present but not intense. I think the ratings are a little hyped here. No way should this be rated so high. Good for the price but by no means an upper tier Barley wine

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very great malty aroma. Definitely one of my favorites. Nice clear amber orange clear color. Not as malty as some other beers but still good, especially considering its like 5 bucks for a bomber.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber that poured a medium copper to dark red color. Off white head that didnít last to long. I will name this barley wine junior. It has all the characteristics of a barley wine but comes up short in all respects. You donít get that full fledged sweet caramel malt punch you in the face. No real deep dark fruits. Now on the plus side itís not that bad really I do like the flavor and the body and the alcohol is well hidden. Overall a B minus.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very sweet with tons of raison and caramel flavors and some very piney hops. A little too sweet for me, but otherwise quite good.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2015 22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/19/2015. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, plum, apple, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toast, brown sugar, light toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, dark malt, and fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, plum, apple, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toast, brown sugar, toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, citrus rind, plum, apple, pine, caramel, toffee, toast, brown sugar, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops, dark malt, and fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and fairly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light-moderate warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible American barleywine style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, dark malt, and fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV, even with the noticeable warming finish. A highly enjoyable offering.
