As soon as I crack the bottle I notice a fresh, delicious hop aroma! Ruby (bright) with a cm of tan, medium coarseness head. Aroma is moderate-strong floral and berry hops (blue raspberry dum-dums!) moderate-light dark caramel and pine sap. Touch of artificial vanilla. Body is medium-heavy, starchy-syrupy, with medium-light carbonation, fine, medium-light burn, soft but fat. Not overbearing. Flavor is moderate berry hops and dark, chewy caramel, some candy and a bit of toasted flour and artificial vanilla. Moderate-to-big bitterness (tree, evergreen) in the finish, but is mostly balanced by the rest of the beer. Manages to be big without cloying or fatiguing (later, once warmed a bit, it did become a bit sweeter/heavier than I would have liked). Also, very hoppy (especially hop flavor) without leaving the bounds of barley wine: the light touch of dark chewy caramel is a highlight.

Caramel and citrus aroma. Pleasing clear copper with a tan head. Lots of bitterness up front with a long malty finish.

Citrus, bold, crisp, hay, earthy, cooked, woody, dark, hybrid, not your normal barleywine, hence the name gnarlywine. Great value, very excited to see this beer age.

Small tan head. Clear body the color of a burnt orange sunset. Light happy aroma, though it could have been a little more pronounced for my taste (no pun intended). Nicely balanced flavor. Good malty sweetness with a slight happy character.

Deep copper-amber pour with a rocky, off-white head. The aroma has caramel, red grapes, strawberry, and bread. It has a full body with chewy texture and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet yet roasted and finishes with a slow, alcohol warmth.

Medium amber color. Medium head. Aroma is malts and nuts. A full bodied Barley wine. Malts are nutty and sweet, Hops are slightly bitter and somewhat citrusy. Well balanced. Very smooth. Body is very full and thick. Kind of chewy. Finishes very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is slightly dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet

Pours a dark clear amber. Has a very unique aroma with dark fruits, citrus hops, and caramel. A strong taste of dark fruits, hops, malts, honey and caramel. A lingering sweet taste from the mix of malty flavors.

I can't smell it at all. The taste is great. Love the burnt caramel flavor.

Bottle. Pours a transparent amber with a nice layer of beige head. Aroma of malts, caramel, and a surprising amount of hops. Taste of caramel, dark fruits, and hops.
