3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of cinnamon, brown sugar, deep malts, maple syrup, molasses, dark fruits, red wine grapes, sugared caramel and a touch of smoke. Appears a dark crimson amber with a thin white foam. Taste is initially sweet with sugared caramel, sugared dark fruits, sugared plums, sugared raisins, molasses, barley, wheat, oats, grains, toffee and burnt caramel. Finishes sweet with a slight boozey bite. Overall, only disappointed just a tad. They should have had more bitter hops to cut through the sweetness but, at $5 for a bomber, I really have no room to complain. A rating.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pour. Nice red-ish amber color. Thin head. Smell of Christmas pudding, caramel, and some fruit I canít quite put my finger on. Taste is complex and excellent; I get toffee, caramel, rye bread, orange peel, and very faint hops. Alcohol masked dangerously well. Definitely a winner in my book.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Pours a deep burnt-orange, generous off-white head with very nice retention and lacing. Nose is fruity hops (peaches, oranges, melons) and some pine, lotta big cakey malt going on in there as well. Mouth... big sticky malt backbone, medium to more-than-medium sweetness, equal degree of balancing bitterness, lots of caramel, orange peel, peaches, burnt sugar, some hay mingling in there. The ABV rears its head on the finish, but itís a barlewine after all, so I expected it would. At this price, I may buy a case and cellar it. Very nice stuff.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Color matches the paneling in the "man cave", lets call it mahogany with a small beige head, nice clingy lacing. Aroma of toffee, hops, some dark fruit. Taste follows the aroma. I was expecting some alcohol burn, but this was really smooth, easy drinking and will get you in trouble if not careful.
This is really a GFB.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a basically clear reddish-burnt orange with a decent sized, tight-bubbled khaki cream head that settles slowly and leaves some intricate spotty, ropey lace, Nose involves some fairly intense alcohol, cherries, some pine, some tropical fruit, some underlying funky dankness, more cherries kinda like cough drops. Pretty sweet, quite bitter. Full bodied, softer action, pretty oily, toward viscous, finishing fruity and bitter, not quite dry. I canít help but feel like this isnít a real barleywine. Itís definitely a hoppy imperial red, but itís just missing a few things. I canít believe that age would improve it either. For what it is, itís drinkable, hoppy, and potent, so fans of sweeter DIPAs would be at home. As a barleywine, it just lacks.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark, reddish-brown color , the head is almost absent , but it's ok for barley wine. Aroma of grapefruit , caramel , brown sugar . Caramel , toffies and tropical fruits in sweet taste which is balanced by hoppy bitterness .

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2015 22 oz bottle, Midway Market, $5.99. Dark ruby-garnet pour with very little head; if poured violently, you can conjure up some light tan, not-quite-frothy head that will dissipate into a ring; light lacing. Trademark Lagunitas pineapple/grapefruit fruity ester aroma--is it their yeast?? Subtle dark red fruit, caramel, banana, bubble gum, pine resin. Finish is quite bitter but just barely balanced, still. Nice warming exhale. Pretty heavy, granular carbonation; like the head, not-quite-frothy. Medium-heavy body, without being terribly sticky. Really enjoyable. Love this brewery!

From the 650 ml. bottle. 2015 (Twenty-Fifteen) edition. The pour is a beautiful looking reddish amber with little to no head. But that is OK. Great clarity. Aroma - well most Barleywines have a distinctive acerbic barely malt character and in some cases they can be boozy. This is neither of those. Yup, there are barley malt characters but I also pick up a sweet fruitiness in there along the lines of berries. Medium to full body. The taste emphasizes the fruity characteristics before the malty characteristics. But they are both there. Some Barleywines can be cellared and they mellow. I expect that would be the case here but I prefer this one fresh.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from bomber into a Lagunitas pint glass dark amber with a tan head which tells me this is an American Barley Wine. First time to consume this annual release (was I sleeping thru the prior releases???)
Aroma is sweet toffee some hops.
Flavor is caramelized sugar thick with hops. Better than just tasty!
