Leighton (7179) - London, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2012
Tap at The Pony Bar, NYC. Pours cloudy gold with a tight, pure white cream cap. Aroma is quite lovely, with a very pronounced, forward wheat and yeast character, then some caramel and candi and bread just beyond. Flavor is heavy, with slightly syrupy and strong sweetness, caramel, toasted sugar, wheat, and dough. Full bodied with average to lively carbonation. Fairly warm on the finish, dense sugar, thick and rich bread, wheat and yeast, light grassy bitterness. It’s a pretty hefty beer, and pretty good, too.

Sammy (7115) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 24, 2011
Almost liquid banana. Banana aroma, mouthfeel consistency, and in the taste. That and the cloves are not my favourites, and were counter to a style I like a lot better. The mouthfeel is above average. Dark brown bodied. Better after spicey food.

22oz bottle: Pours a slightly cloudy bright golden brass with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a sweet wheaty nose with some banana esters and orange zest. Starts with pretty good fullness and malty sweetness with doughy yeasty notes and a smooth bitter hop balance before a slightly warming peppery clove finish. Pretty true to style, but could hide the alcohol a little better.

Bomber from Capone’s. Pours very thick and turbid vivid orangy straw colored with 2-finger well-retained and uniform off-white head. Nose is malty, clovey spice, peppery, funky yeast, lime, Bazooka gum. Tastes citric, very malty, clovey, with a big rock sugary yeasty flavor, a rich and complex palate, and a strong finish.

Bomber. Poured hazy medium orange with a dense off-white head. The aroma picked up warm, toasted banana and bready notes with some peppery spice and cloves around.. the sugars masked the boozage well. The flavor found dry, tangy wheat and peppery alcohol on the tip of the tongue, with grainy banana and vanilla sugars following.. tangy again on the finish, with orange and floral notes joining.. well-balanced and tasty. Medium-bodied, spicy, and grainy on the palate.. I enjoyed it.

Drake (6594) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - OCT 12, 2011
Bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a very hazy orange with a thin fizzy white head. Poor head retention. Aroma of banana, pineapple, wheat and a spicy clove finish. The taste is banana, clove, spice, caramel, pineapple, toasted malts and a bitter finish. Medium-full bodied with strong carbonation.

Bottle @ Exira Beer Summit II, courtesy of gooovikings. Glowing peach orange, cloudy appearance with a white head. Huge banana brea, moderate clove, somewhat spicy yeasty aroma. Flavor is a lot of the same- huge banana, moderate clove, quite spicy yeasty, wheat malty flavor. Banana bomb.

DruncanVeasey (6179) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 4, 2012
Bottle from New Beer Distributors, NYC, drank in Barbados on Boxing Day, readying for a brace of Bert’s rum punches and a hangover-inducing slew of rum and cokes and Banks@Mojo. Deep haze; apricot, slowly resolves a tall, clinging head like its been widgetised. Sourish, clove-studded orange, banana and earthy yeast aroma; touch of smoke, pepper. A bit sahti. Mauby-like, minus the bitterness. Smooth, peppered banana yoghurt weightiness, spritz, the heft of alc but no heat, restrained background use of hops. Black pepper and green herb hints, drying, mauby-like. As Belgian or Finnish as Bavarian. Maybe misses the heady spiciness and banana of the finest egs but a slick, refreshing weizen.

Dogbrick (6178) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 23, 2012
Pours a deep orange color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Cereal malts, bananas and yeast in the nose. Medium body with flavors of toasted malt, bread bread, yeast and fruit. The finish is sweet with a yeast and bubblegum aftertaste. Above average overall.
