3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
An authentic American-made Czech pils, classic noble hops with some grassy spicyness, along with fresh grainy malt, just a classic and well balanced flavor profile. Pours a shimmery golden color with plenty of lacing, just looks like a classic pilsner. Aroma of bitter hops and grass, and pale malt. Texture is comfortably carbonated, crisp and refreshing. Very reminiscent of Pilsner-Urquell. Paired quite well with some spicy hummus and pita bread, FYI. A nice craft pilsner, recommended.

On tap at Lagunitas Chicago Taproom. Pours clear and light gold. Flavor is moderately hopped with typical saaz flavor and no excessively bitter or inappropriate "cascade" type flavors, crisp and clean. Some fresh barley notes. Pretty good.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE TASTED: December 12, 2014... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... OCCASION: a long work week receives a good reward... APPEARANCE: dazzling golden effervescent body; creamy white head that sends flares upward; mostly transparent... AROMA: perfumy, almost high-hopped aroma; fragrant lemon and candied apple; for a pilsener, the malts are apologetic and understated... PALATE: fizzy, vibrant mouthfeel; smooth, nuanced weight on the teeth; formidable, medium-bodied...TASTE: tasty, fruity intensity--apple and pear, a more acidic cheese--pitched sharply but ends with a malty, doughy finish... OVERALL: for dudes who claim they DON’T do lagers, this pilsener is easy to get behind--fruity, forceful, and capable of commanding attention on its own; another strong Lagunitas offering...
