scraff (1615), Baltimore, Maryland, USA May 7, 2008 Sparkling yellow gold, thin fizzy white head. Fruity toasted grains and soft caramel aromas ride undercurrents of lemon bread. Spicy citric hop flavors are very well balanced on hints of warmed peppery bread dough. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, bittersweet finish. A well put together pils that’s perfect for summer grilling days. Underrated in my opinion…
Bungalo22 (225), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Jul 26, 2008 Poured from the bottle into a pilsner glass. This is a very good pilsner and because it is a pilsner does not get the credit it should. I am not the biggest of pilsner fans but this was good in style. It pours a light yellow with a nice head. It has the aroma of hops and it smells sweet at times. It is very smooth and refreshing. It is well balanced and has a good identifiable flavor for a pils. darn1207 (198), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 25, 2008 12oz bottle. good pilsener. light yellow gold color. smells of bread, lemon, honey and flowery hops. light to medium palate. moderate sweet spice and citrus then a clean light bitter hop finish. I get in the mood for a sixer of these from time to time - always a compliment. K-7.5 JCastner (7), New York, USA does not count Jul 21, 2008 Lagers get very low ratings on Ratebeer - perhaps because so many beer snobs equate aroma and flavor complexity with higher gravity ales. This is an excellent example of a well balanced pilsener. Try this in a blind taste test with other higher rated, more popular pilseners and you might be surprised with the results. NobleSquirrel (646), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 19, 2008 For whatever reason, I hadn’t had this yet. Bottle at Kuma’s. Pour is deep and golden with a lasting fluff head. Nose is floral with hops, very clean with lingering lager notes. Taste is brilliantly hoppy, not overly bitter, and very clean. Again, floral. Very nice pilsener. jhumphries69 (502), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jul 18, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a very deep and brilliant gold with deep gold and yellow highlights and a thick, soft, cloudy, off-white head that leaves some lace and consists mostly of medium-sized bubbles. The aroma is malty with notes of cooked corn and toffee. There is also a slight floral/perfumy note from hops, but it is quite restrained (at least compared to the big bouquest of Saaz hops that some Czech pilsners present). The flavor is very malty with a subdued yet noticable, spicy bitterness. There is a lot of fresh-baked-bread malt with a light touch of caramel - and perhaps a touch of diacetyl, too. The hops offer a subtle earthy+herbal quality to the flavor, too. At mid-palate, the bitterness is firm but well-balanced and very clean. The finish is somewhat dry with a big, lingering maltiness and a strong but very clean bitterness. The hoppy finish is very perfumy and the bitterness is almost soapy. The mouthfeel is quite spritzy with a medium body. Overall, a decent, drinkable lager, but far from my favorite - something not quite right with it that is hard to put my finger on...
