3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12-oz bottle. Pours a rich gold color that is brilliantly clear. A lot of carbonation bubbles rise up through this beer creating a frothy, rocky head that is initially four fingers thick but dissipates quickly. Fair lacing. Aroma is grassy with hay and butter notes on the side. I get a hint of aromatic lemon & herb scents. Sweet grains are also there. The taste is lightly sweet up front and fairly spritzy throughout from the ample carbonation. Bitterness dances above the sweetness and becomes stronger as the sweetness turns buttery. Medium body with an oily texture. Long bitter finish. This is one of my first pilseners, so it is hard to say how it fares against standards in the style. But I really like it and will drink it again.

Transfer from BA review on 7-31-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a golden color with a two finger pure white head. The head is on the slightly thicker side and has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is of a grainy and bready nature with a little bit of caramel and light fruit as well as a light hop smell. The hop is of a grassy and lemony nature creating a dry and more crisp smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a drier bready flavor mixed with a bit of grassiness and some light fruity sweetness which creates a base for the brew. As the flavors advance more lemon hop bitterness and some light grassiness comes to the tongue. This mix of flavors, with the dwindling of a bit of the sweetness and some increase in the lemon and some grassy hop, together leave a crisp and more dry grainy and lightly hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner to more average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both are quite appropriate for the style and make for a rather easy drinking brew.
Overall – Fairly easy drinking and rather refreshing, but nothing too out of the ordinary for a pils.

Yellow. Some lemon floral, dankish grassy, light sweet malt, bready. Sweet malt, bitter. Equally strong bitter and malt more than a normal pils. Grassy citrus finish. Not one of my favorate pils but I don’t know technicalities of different types of pils character exactly either. Like Czech vs. bohemian. But think I like the other types of pils more at least more than this Czech pils.

Pours a clear pure gold with a decent eggshell head that leaves some soapy, foamy lace. Nose involves dusty hay, toasted malt, and noble spice. Actually does remind of Pilsner Urquell, though not quite as intense and malty. Lightly sweet flavor, somewhat bitter. Medium to light bodied, somewhat oily, crisp, with a lingering toasty, dusty, and nearly tart bitter finish. Tasty.

clear, pale golden color, white lightly frothy head. light carbonation. aroma is floral with a light grassiness. flavor has a bit of a spice (assuming Saaz are used here), but i’d a like a bit more "Saazy" character to mine. still nice and refreshing beer.

On tap at Lagunitas Chicago Tap room, served in a pilsner glass which gives a very good appearance. Before craft beer I usually drank pilsner beer and not the one’s from the U.S. This beer holds it’s own with all of them. It’s crisp, tasty, with a little bite and stronger than most. I was impressed with this beer and the tap room.

Draught at Bar Pilar. Bright yellow color, thin white head, massive lacing. Aroma of white pepper. Taste is only slightly bitter, medium body, medicinal finish. Not bad, but pales in comparison to the Czech original.

As Pilsners go, Lagunitas Pils is very light and flavorful; perfect for sunny weather poolside or backyard BBQ!
