COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In The beginning, there were ales. As far as anyone knows, the first beers made were ’top-fermented’, which is longhand for ’Ale’. Sometime long before the 1860’s, beers became popular that were made in Northern Europe with a bottom fermenting yeast strain that liked the colder temperatures. Because they had to spend weeks aging before they tasted their best, they were known as ’Lager’ beer. Lager is the German word for ’storage’. Since they had to sit a while, they took up more time and space and as such were harder and more expensive to make. Where ales are meaty, lagers are sinewy. Where ales are street, lagers are ’haute couture’. Where an ale might hit you over the head and take your wallet, lagers donate to charity and adopt stray cats. While an ale might steal your car or try to date your daughter and keep her out all night for who-knows-what purpose, a well bred lager would offer to clean your house while you’re on vacation and leave fresh scones and coffee for you when you return. Now, don’t get us wrong, ales can be a lot of fun to hang out with when you’re in the right mood, and if you have bail money on you. But what’s wrong with livin’ uptown from time to time, on a nice street, where the doormen all wear those little uniforms, the air smells of flowers, and lagers rule the Earth. Cheers!

12-oz bottle. Pours a rich gold color that is brilliantly clear. A lot of carbonation bubbles rise up through this beer creating a frothy, rocky head that is initially four fingers thick but dissipates quickly. Fair lacing. Aroma is grassy with hay and butter notes on the side. I get a hint of aromatic lemon & herb scents. Sweet grains are also there. The taste is lightly sweet up front and fairly spritzy throughout from the ample carbonation. Bitterness dances above the sweetness and becomes stronger as the sweetness turns buttery. Medium body with an oily texture. Long bitter finish. This is one of my first pilseners, so it is hard to say how it fares against standards in the style. But I really like it and will drink it again.

Pours a clear gold with a frothy and lacey white head. Aroma of sweet pil malts, spicy noble hops and clean Czech lager yeast. Taste is sweet pil malts, nobel hops, clean lager yeast and a medium dry finish. Could be crisper and dryer for a true Czech pils but most characteristics are they to make it good. Just need to execute the finish.

A nice grassy mild citrus aroma. Taste is similar with a sweet bit of citrus with some mild wheat. Not bad.

Appearance- big foamy bone white head that lasted a long time. Minimal to no lacing. Lots of bubbles. Very pale golden yellow. Looked like lemon meringue pie in a glass. A great looker! Smell- crisp and clean. Sweet spicy malts. Feint hops. Taste- malty up front, sweet on the back end. Biscuity. Slight hop bitterness. Mouthfeel- silky smooth. Light body. Overall- very good. Love all things Lagunitas, but I’m not a Pils guy (love me some IPA’s!!!); however, I know a good Pilsner when I drink one. Has officially dethroned the Scrimshaw as my favorite Pilsner. This is a great offering from one of the best breweries. Would have again and definitely recommend. Cheers!

A nice Eastern European style pils, this one has a hint of sweetness as it hits your mouth, before moving to a deeper and longer lasting hop bitterness. Simple and drinkable.

Trevlig.

Bottle from Total Wine in Jensen Beach. Caught my eye for a tic - won’t be roaming down the pilsner aisle much again. Golden yellow pour, white head with some lace. Elderflowers and sweet malts in the nose. Some light sweet fruits and earthy malt in the taste. Fairly light and solidly simple. 12.8

Golden with excellent head retention, floral and malty aroma, the same in flavor. Bitterness high, like an IPL, pungent, it me remains in the mouth. Anyway, it is a good beer.

This beer is just a very simple and easy to drink pilsner. Light flavors, light body, pale malt backbone. Medium alcohol which is masked well even with the lightness of this beer.

An authentic American-made Czech pils, classic noble hops with some grassy spicyness, along with fresh grainy malt, just a classic and well balanced flavor profile. Pours a shimmery golden color with plenty of lacing, just looks like a classic pilsner. Aroma of bitter hops and grass, and pale malt. Texture is comfortably carbonated, crisp and refreshing. Very reminiscent of Pilsner-Urquell. Paired quite well with some spicy hummus and pita bread, FYI. A nice craft pilsner, recommended.
