LtDan (471), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA Sep 14, 2008 A big bright orange with a tight sudsy head. Smells like pine and citrus. Have a bitter yet sweet hoppy beginning and finish. While it was called a cream ale on the bottle, I would put it in between an amber ale and a double IPA style wise. changeup45 (782), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 13, 2008 Pours a bright orange color with a thin off-white head that settles down to just about nothing. Aroma is fruity and very floral. The taste is sweet and tangy fruits with spices and some light hopping. Dry in the finish with mild bitterness. This is nice, it’s all a little light considering the abv, but still a good beer. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 13, 2008 On draft at Tyler’s, Durham. Fairly anonymous amber pour, glowing and rich hued but without any evident carbonation or liveliness to it. Modest spicy aroma with some hops dominating along with a smidge of zesty fruits. Less malty than some other Lagunitas beers, and it makes for an interesting mingle between the hops and the spice. But overall I found this fairly anonymous. cmillward (419), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 13, 2008 On tap @ redlight redlight. Pours a haze-free light amber with a small white head. Caramel citrus hops and toasted malts on the nose. Citrus hops and toasted malts, finishes with a nice bitterness. Very smooth mouthfeel, quite drinkable! Nothing off here, caramel and citrus hops are highlighted here and not super bitter for a Lagunitas. jsquire (2087), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2008 Deep golden colored beer with a foamy off-white head. Spicey nose with some lemon. This is a hop forward beer, with nice citrus/grapefruit notes. Some spice and soap. The bitterness in the finish tends towards grapefruit. Easy summer beer. jefcon (997), Arlington, Virginia, USA Sep 11, 2008 Aromas of white chocolate and slight alcohol rise from this copper-gold beer. Not much head. There are three forceful, but separate, components of the flavor profile here: the hoppy bite -- apricot, nectarine, bitters -- then the shortest hints of cream ale, followed by the slick astringent finish. Not very well-balanced, but then again a Special High Gravity Cream Ale is bound to suffer a little from the ambitiousness of the task that lay in making it. smith4498 (829), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 8, 2008 Pours clear copper color with off white head. Aromas of pine and bread. Grapefruit hop flavor and big caramel sweetness. Medium body with average carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. Another solid brew from Lagunitas. jrmac (210), USA Sep 6, 2008 Golden brown pour with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet malt and hops. A touch of caramel perhaps. Taste is very balanced between hops and malt. Good touch of caramel to smooth it out. Good effort in my opinion.
