I like this beer alot nuplastikk (1159), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 17, 2008 American Strong Ale is too broad. This one clearly states that it is a " HI-Gravity Cream Ale". 12oz bottle. Deliciously appealing doughy cream aroma. Filtered copper color. Deliciously creamy and smooth, with a piny hop presence. The filtering really does this ale right, making the hoppy tastes come through quite enjoyably. Excellent Cream Ale, perhaps the best I’ve had. Ansset13 (127), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA Jul 14, 2008 The pour is a nice coppery color with a small white head. Its aroma is largely floral hops with hints of sugars and yeast. The flavor is nice and crisp, citrus, pine and touches of sugars. A nice seasonal ale. thornecb (1736), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jul 13, 2008 Pours deep gold into a shaker. White micro head with excellent retention. Tangy tangerine aromas. Sour citrus and chalky malt. NJJereme (261), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber/copper color with a medium white head. Combination of the aromas of pine, caramel, bread and a hint of citrus. On the finish, there is the hint of a brandy flavor. Pretty decent. eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle shared by Robert at State Line. Pour was amber in color, decent large bubble foamy head and lacing. The aroma was firm pine and citrus hops. The flavor was firm pine and citrus hops over caramel, grainy, and even slightly bready malts. The mouthfeel was light to moderate but not seemingly any cleaner than a standard IPA vs. a "high gravity cream ale," as the hops overwhelmed any subtle yeast contributions in this one. Thanks, Robert, for sharing! jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jul 11, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a bright, deep gold with copper highlights and a thin, off-white (yellow-ish) head. The aroma is slightly sweet from honey-like malts and herbal from fresh-smelling, funky hops (simcoe or chinook?), The flavor is nice: a nice bready malt with subtle melanoidins, residual crystal malt sweetness, and balanced bitterness. The beer is hoppy with a nice blend of piney bitter hops and sweet malts. The finish is full with a slightly hoppy dryness and hoppy grapefruit aftertaste. The body is full and surprisingly drinkable and quenching considering its gravity. The texture has a decent crispness from a medium level carbonation. Overall, a very drinkable strong ale with a delicious balance of sweetness and bitter hops. Swalden28 (1439), McKinney, Texas, USA Jul 10, 2008 Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX.
Pours a clear light orange/amber with off-white head, slight retention. Aroma of grapefruit/hops and malt. Flavor is somewhat sweet, grapefruit notes, nice bitterness. Palate is medium body low-medium carbonation, nice soft slight smoothness on the tounge. Overall, it is pretty good stuff.
