kriggins (6), , Florida, USA does not count Jul 2, 2008 Half inch cream-colored head. Spicy floral and malt aroma. Color is a unique copper-orange hue and fairly clear. Very appealing appearance. Taste is balanced malt, with slight lemony zest, and bit of hop spice. Nice lingering finish. HenrikSoegaard (4260), Randers, Denmark Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Orange colour. Powerfull malty and fruity aroma. Great flavor. moderate bitter. Long nice bitter finish. Creamy palate. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 1, 2008 Poured from 12oz bottle an orange color with a large white head with a slight orange tint. Aromas is strong with sweet floral hops, citrus and caramel. The flavor is big with whipped malt, orangy citrus, flowery hops, caramel, and tangy, silky honey. The palate has a sweetness that carries until the end with a light bitterness and a smooth tongue tingling tang. There is also an alcohol warmth that grows more prevelant as the beer warms becoming slightly astringent. Overall a nice change of pace over a DIPA, has nice flavor an is quite easy to drink. It wouldn’t be my goto beer but I’d drink it on occasion. FrankJohansen (3327), Sabro, Denmark Jul 1, 2008 Bottle. Unclear orange colour with a medium off white head. Rich aroma and taste of malts and fruits. Nice palate. Sweetish finis. saxo (3511), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Jul 1, 2008 Bottle. Huge head with good duration Color is hazy amber. Aroma and taste are fruits, hops, flowers and malt. CheersMate1 (766), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2008 Very foamy head that fades away rather quickly. Not a very dark color. Light caramel brown color. This is not really a "great" looking American Strong Ale; I am used to darker colors. Looks rather thin. A very fruity aroma. The aroma definitely lacks a hop aroma, but this a strong ale, so the hops are very necessary. The malt aroma is awesome. An effortless approach is needed to smell the malt. Very fruity aroma that pleases the nose. As stated before, a very pungent beer. I am happy with the aroma. Very creamy beer. The beer is pretty creamy, but there is strong presence of alcohol, even for 7.6% that thins the beer out. The palate is average. A very sweet taste. These malts are very strong, and rich. Rich in the sense of taste, and not palate. The sweet fruit flavors are just all over, and I enjoy the fact that this beer is heavy on the malts. Not a bad beer. This beer focuses heavily on the malts, and that sums it up. The color, and palate don’t matter because this beer is friggin malty. Decent brew, I say. chokmah33 (115), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jun 29, 2008 Pale hops, musty fruits (pear, plum) and earthy wet grass I find in the aroma. A metallic solvent smell, like an overgrown lager. Has a slight cider spice to it as well.
Sour fruits (apple, green grapes, grapefruit) and spices (clove, coriander, cardamom) characterize the flavor.
The decent piney floral hops blast gives it character, but is restrained for this brewery. Light sweet carmel malts sneak in there as well.
I was suprisingly impressed with this beer, because I’ve never enjoyed the style but I shouldn’t have doubted Lagunitas.
Bomb astringent palate that you’d expect on a pale even IPA. Texture is creamy and a little soapy. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jun 29, 2008 Pours a copper orange with a thin, cream colored head. The nose is very floral and pine hoppy. The flavor is also hoppy with a nice balanced malt influence. A bit sweet and very easy drinking.
