spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Dec 23, 2006 Get some sweet malts in the aroma.Pours hazy copper with an off white head.Sweet malt in the flavor.Medium mouthfeel with a bitter finiish. JoeMcPhee (4911), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 21, 2006 12 oz bottle. Cloudy golden brew. Sweet malty aroma, some brown sugar and a bit of honeyed sweetness. Some herbal mintiness over the top. Medium-bodied with loads of residual sugars. Quite sweet and tends to get cloying through the mid-way point of the bottle. Overly simplistic. Bigger isn’t always better. shigadeyo (2210), Harrison, Ohio, USA Dec 19, 2006 O.G. 1.072, 40.63 IBU, 7.6% ABV, Special Release...
Lagunitas Sirius Ale ("A Hi-Gravity Cream Ale") is honey colored and a bit hazey. It has a moderately-sized creamy beige head with good retention and fairly dense lacing. The aroma is quite sweet and contains fruit, citrus/orange, and caramel malt. There is a hefty sweet fruity caramel maltiness in the flavor followed by a firm, orange blossom and hop bitterness. There is a slight alcohol burn in the finish and the hoppiness becomes piney and lingers on the back of the tongue. This beer has a medium body, mild carbonation level, and is smooth and creamy. Over all it reminds me more of a pale ale than a cream ale, but either way it’s pretty tasty. Much different than the Terrapin Golden Ale I just finished and more in-line with my beer preferences...
12 oz bottle from Belmont Party Supply. fbennett (293), Lowell, Massachusetts, USA Dec 12, 2006 One of my favorite breweries is Lagunitas they have quality brews and I’ve never been disappointed. This one from Lagunitas pours a cloudy dark caramel orange with yeast floating throughout leaving a thick tan head. The aroma is fruit candy, plum, figs, hops, citrus, and tons of bready floural notes. The taste is sweet like prune juice, figs, with a caramel blast finish with a nice hoppy bite to balance this brew out. This is a great cream ale far and above the best I’ve come across great job Lagunitas!
StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Nov 28, 2006 Dulled bronze in color and translucent, with a pillowy off-white head. Lemon butter cream strikes the nose first, pursued by pistachios, cream soda, vanilla after dinner lozenges and citric mandarin for a unique and enjoyable sniffing experience. Flavor keeps its fullness with a touch too much of buttery orange meringue flavor hop activity. Creamy vanilla and orangey toffee are well met with admirable effervescence, but the vibrant hop activity moves too far away from creamy treatises. A hint of green clover joins the graham wafer, now jutting out of the rainbow sherbet for a palate flavor cleanser. Medium to fuller bodied with candied oranges titillating West Coast bittering and flavor hops in the finish. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA Nov 27, 2006 Medium gold in color with a thick collar of lacing, white foam on top. A very warm aroma that is sweet and flowery/perfume-like with a creamy smelling malt base. Alcoholic warmth is to the forefront with a solid bitterness, some creamy malt, and a floral, sweet hop fllavor. brewblackhole (1367), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Nov 24, 2006 For a cream ale, this had a very distinct aroma of balanced malt and hop with just a slight hint of citrus ester, taste was sprite and full,no hint of adjunct as you would find in other cream ales,a cream ale at bock gravity, light enough to be a great session brew, full enough to contemplate the taste. Excellent Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Nov 21, 2006 Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of caramel and floral hops, with hints of some earthy spices as well. Flavor starts of with some fruit flavor that gives way to the floral hops and caramel. Slight alcohol warming on the finish. Another decent Lagunitas brew.
