BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Oct 20, 2006 Bottle and served in my Rogue Santa glass: Pours a slightly hazed amber with a small fading frothy head but produced good lace. The aroma has a nice note of piney and grassy hops, grapefruit and apple, clove and pepper, honey and sweeter malt with a hint of earthy yeast. The taste is wonderful balance of resin hops, acidic fruit, bready sweet malt and a dash of white pepper. Stayed on course throughout the tasting providing a clean amped up APA styled brew. The mouth feel is sharp and refreshing and worked very well against the flavor profile with a finish of light alcohol character. This is a top notch beer and underrated IMO. Get Ya Some! ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Oct 20, 2006 Clear amber, large creamy head, good lacing and retention. Aroma is aged hops..l I don’t think this bottle was fresh. Lesser notes of grapefruit and citrus. Velvety mouthfeel, it aged well and was enjoyable but rather simple. TrevorFloyd (309), Connecticut, USA Oct 18, 2006 Pours a pale yellow-copper, with a big floral hop aroma. Taste is heavy on the hops, floral with some fruit and an earthy flavor that I can’t quite place. Body is a bit more light than I would have expected. Not as extreme as most ASA’s I’ve had. Tasty, worth a look. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 17, 2006 I have been rather pleased with the beers I have gotten from this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-copper color with a small yellow-white head. The aroma is sweet, tangy and fruity. The flavor was sweet and tangy with a ripe fruit element. The fruity hops change to floral hops on the finish. Tasty. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 15, 2006 Wow, this beer smells like a florist. This golden beer has almost no head. Very light body with a strong hop/flower bite. nolankowal (850), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 11, 2006 Somewhat hazy-yellow orange pour with a creamy white head. Kind of spicy aroma with some light citrusy hops and some malt. The Flavor has a nice citrusy bitterness with a nice creaminess to it, though it feels like a bit too much booze is coming through. Sturdy body light bittersweetness throughout and finishing with a warming bitter citrus...pretty crisp yet that creaminess throws you off. Ungstrup (14753), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 4, 2006 An orange beer with a slight haze under a thick off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with a light touch of hops. The flavor is sweet with a good hop profile and a crisp maltiness. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 2, 2006 Mild fruity esters. Good floral hop bouquet, fresh. Mild sweetness of biscuit or some toffee. Neutral fruits. Orange or citrus oils with a bit of resin. Orangish-amber body, slightly hazy, with very thinnest of wispy off-white heads. Not any lacing present. Medium to heavy watery body, not quite oily, but definitely more substance to it than a fortified lager, for example. Mild to medium carbonation. Starts with a nice presence of fresh hops flavor and some biscuity sweetness. A mild carbonic tanginess persists, but it taken over by a nice orangy-fruity character with some resinous hop oils to bitter. Bitterness strengthens as the mild sweetness dissipates, leaving a final after that’s dry but not overly chalky or astringent. This is a pretty good strong ale.
