puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Aug 10, 2006 Very creamy, buttery, hoppy. A different kind of balance in this mostly IIPA that lives up to its creamy name. The hops are very distinguished, juicy and grapefruity, with a slight bitter aftertaste. The beer is a glowing orange with a touch of head. A great effort. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 8, 2006 It’s got a nice piney, orange, citrus hops thing going. Parallel and concurrent to the smooth dryness their is a creamy sweetness. ehhdayton (1113), USA Aug 8, 2006 Pours a golden straw color with a white head. The aroma is slightly malty with a touch of hops and the flavor is initially caramel malty sweet with the hop bitterness coming through lightly to finish. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 5, 2006 iidn’t know what to expect from a cream ale. t seems like such vague classification when I try to compare them to each other. Then I read it’s a American strong ale - which is even more mysterious. This beer was good, that;’s it. I’d pick it many other beers a would like to try it on tap. It got to Xtra ’overall’ points due to high alcohol content Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2006 Bottle. A good citrus orange aroma. Gold body with creamy head that sat on top of beer thoughout. Flavor was citrusy and had a syrupy texture to it. Good carbination bubbles in a steady flow from bottom to top of glass. Good refreshing brew. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Aug 5, 2006 I’d like to dedicate this rating to DaSilky1. Fresh, late-2006 bottle consumed on 8/4/06. Strong initial white head sits atop a peanut-butter/golden mix of colored liquid. Filtered, clear, big bubbles show forced carb, obviously, because Lagunitas dosent "keep it real". Smells, hmmmm, actually one of the more dry smelling Lagunitas beers. I was ready to get attacked by hops (I did), but I didnt get blasted with an equal dose of caramelly-syrupy malt. More of a grainy, lighter colored malt base, is somewhat snappier, but is buried beneath an emergent fountain of citric and resinous hops. Some yeast sharpness on the very end? Maybe, or maybe it’s just hops. The flavor is not as dry as hoped for, the lack of huge amounts of heavier crystal malts do not overwhelm with caramel sweetness, but still, there is a strong honeyish, bordering some light caramel tints. Hoppiness is assertive, heavy and very American. Citric and maybe a touch of very ligh flowers, but just tons of strong, somewhat sweet citrus fruits and dry pine resin. Alcohol is mostly well-concealed. The texture loosens almost immediately, as the fake carbonation falls off. By the end, the filtered body and dissipated carbonation create a syrupy, sugary, bitter mess which yours truly could not finish. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA Aug 4, 2006 12oz bottle poured a clear gold with a nice creamy white head. Aromas of sweet malt and mild hops. Taste is light with a hint of alcohol and a creamy texture. Overall a good cream ale that hides the high alcohol nicely. skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 3, 2006 Updated: May 27, 200712 oz bottle into a Watou style glass and on tap at Brouwer’s Cafe in Seattle. Pours a beautiful hazy golden copperish color with a very thin creamy head that dissapates rather quickly. The aroma brings a sense of sweet malty hops, honey, and a bit of fruit. The flavor is very crisp while bringing tastes of a sweet fruity malt near the start which slowly fizzles into a stronger citrus and bitter hop finish. This year’s (2006) is much hoppier than I remember last year’s being. A tiny alcohol kick comes in through the end of the 2006’s as well. Medium carbonation. This is one of my favorite summer brews by far!
