OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Aug 2, 2006 12oz bottle via trade with cbkschubert! - Thanks Craig! - Hi-Gravity Cream Ale heh there’s a novel idea. Pours bright amber with a short creamy offwhite head that laces some. Aromas of light grassy hops, orange, and some grains. Flavor is very cereal like.. Like drinking a bowl of frosted flakes. Lots of grain notes, and some light floral hops. Finishes with a little spice in the hops. Good clean mouthfeel with pretty lively carbonation and the alcohol is covered pretty well. DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA Aug 1, 2006 12 ounce bottle purchased at Manchester Wine and Liquors. An Imperial Cream Ale, eh? Initial hoppy aroma with some sweet, orangey, citric notes. I also detect some weird soapiness as well as some ethanol in the nose. Kind of a weird, muddled aroma. Transparent dark golden color with a small-medium whitish head that does a fair job of lingering. Slightly sweet, chewy start, which turns a little boozy in the middle. Finishes with a very earthy, roasted, hop bitterness. An interesting concept, but this just finishes too bitter and too dry for me. I think it’s closer to an ESB, personally. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Jul 31, 2006 This doesn’t taste like any cream ale I’ve ever had, that’s for sure. The pour is a nice dark golden color with a solid white head. The aroma is hoppy and with very light hints of sweet fruits. The taste is of lightly spiced floral hops. This beer has a nice creamy mouthfeel and is refreshing. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA Jul 27, 2006 On tap. Straw color with thin head. High carbonation. Good hop balance, good hop finish, clean palate. Doesn’t taste like 7.6% ABV. Very nice, low key, stronger beer. It grew on me. Dogbrick (2813), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jul 25, 2006 Yes another beer style gets "Imperialized", this time a Cream Ale. The final result is not nearly as bad as I would have expected. The beer is a dark golden color with a medium fluffly white head that has pretty good retention. Rings of lacing throughout the glass. Aroma of fruit and hops. Medium-bodied with flavor characteristics similar to something like Gumballhead but not as pronounced. Clean, wheaty mouthfeel with citrus and malt in the background. The finish is a little peppery with hops and spices. Yes it’s great for a Cream Ale but still isn’t exactly earth-shaking. Still, I would get this again. STEPHENDR (478), California, USA Jul 25, 2006 Golden yellow- nice off white head – buttery nose –taste bitter, roasted, malty- medium body, slightly sparkly- aftertaste tobacco, veggies GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Jul 23, 2006 Pours golden w/ a full creamy froth. Aroma is minimal w/ malt. Full nectar w/ still residual effers. Dry, dusty hops, hay, w/ bitter cream on the finish. Finishes clean. A decent session brew. Overall: for an American Strong Ale, I am dissapointed. For a cream ale, I think it deserves mention. It’s better than other cream ales I’ve had.
