| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 26, 2005 Golden color with a thick white head. Some floral like hops in the aroma with some sweet malt notes as well. Light sweetness initially followed up by some spicy hops. Some herbal notes in the lightly dry finish. Not bad, but certainly not one of Lagunitas’ better offerings. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2007 Bottle. Hazy, copper color with a quickly diminishing white head. Big, sweet malt aroma with lots of caramel. Sweet and malty flavor with a slight fruitiness and a slight bitterness. A very nice beer. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Oct 11, 2007 The Imperialization continues...Pours a murky golden orange with a sturdy cream head. The nose is rather subdued - notes of hay, caramel and dirty yeast. Big, chewy mouthfeel. More caramel and hay notes are jumbled into a cloying mess. No hops in sight to balance this monster. Yikes this is hard to drink. If there has ever been a style NOT to imperialize, it is indeed the cream ale. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2006 Pours hazy amber with a big head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, and hops. Lots of malt in the taste, accompanied by the sugary sweetness. Alcohol and hops in the back that linger. Overall, it tastes like a thinner version of their Hairy Eyeball. Good, not great. jah noth (1023), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2004 Herbal, slightly doughy aroma. Deep golden poour with a fluffy head and lots of tiny bubbles. Tastes of fruit, spicy hops and alcohol. Spicy, burning finish. Somewhat tasty to try, but not a regular. fidel (1020), Livermore, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 20, 2008 Pours light amber, creamy, caramel, malty, little hoppy, little spice, slight alcohol. jefcon (1009), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2008 Aromas of white chocolate and slight alcohol rise from this copper-gold beer. Not much head. There are three forceful, but separate, components of the flavor profile here: the hoppy bite -- apricot, nectarine, bitters -- then the shortest hints of cream ale, followed by the slick astringent finish. Not very well-balanced, but then again a Special High Gravity Cream Ale is bound to suffer a little from the ambitiousness of the task that lay in making it.
