Commercial Description:
We brewed this Special High Gravity Cream Ale in serious celebration of the return of the salubrious Spring... With the long dark days of the Season of Damp nearly behind us and the possibilities of a long languid Summer ahead.

Pale hops, musty fruits (pear, plum) and earthy wet grass I find in the aroma. A metallic solvent smell, like an overgrown lager. Has a slight cider spice to it as well. Sour fruits (apple, green grapes, grapefruit) and spices (clove, coriander, cardamom) characterize the flavor. The decent piney floral hops blast gives it character, but is restrained for this brewery. Light sweet carmel malts sneak in there as well. I was suprisingly impressed with this beer, because I’ve never enjoyed the style but I shouldn’t have doubted Lagunitas. Bomb astringent palate that you’d expect on a pale even IPA. Texture is creamy and a little soapy.

12oz bottle. Shiny penny, thin white head. Some peachy, raspberyish, grapefruit, mango inspired hops aromas. Sweet fruitiness really, and the malts just support it, without adding much grain or caramel character. Malty flavor, also fruity and a bit sweet. Hops are quite less evident in the mouth. Those hoppy aromas just don’t translate into much bitterness. Nectarine and cumquat citrus. Medium-bodied and a little chewy. I can see this getting a little cloying with repeated pints, but one works nicely. Lagunitas does an ASA with mellow hops and good balance, but as well as they usually do the style. Good beer.

Smells is sweet and malty. Head clears down to patches. Taste is malts and grains then given to hops. I didn’t expect such hoppiness but I don’t mind. Not too bad, but I expected something different.

Smells super sweet and malty, like someone made a brass monkey with some Malta and OE. Thin patchy head and a bit of chunky sediment - bottle’s been in the back of my fridge for a while, so hopefully this is OK. Oily mouthfeel, and the 7.6% ABV is very pronounced - tastes like malt liquor with a shot of vodka and molasses in it. Not a fan, but I’m assuming this was just a bad bottle and will give it an average rating so as not to blow the curve. Will try again later with a fresh one.

12 oz. bottle from BevMo - Pours a crystal clear copper color with a one finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is floral and pine hops. Flavor is very hop farward with some light malt sweetness to back it. Palate has that hoppy, Strong Ale/IPA bite. I’m not sure where the Cream ale fits in, but I like this beer.

An incredibly tasty cream ale from Lagunitas. It is a very hoppy and almost tangy/spicy cream ale with a touch of sweetness, but still keeps a fine balance of strength and smoothness. Pours golden brown with a delicous creamy head.
