Iím normally underwhelmed by the prospect of trying yet another IPA from Lagunitas, but given the great ratings, I figured Iíd give it a whirl - pours a clear light orange, with a fairly sticky lace - a lot of resinous, earthy hop character in the nose, with a potent mix of pineapple, mango, and apricot sweetness - the flavor is of medium sweet tropical fruits, followed by copious amounts of earthy hops, finished off by some lingering honey and herbal qualities - a little too sweet on the back - itís quite good, not great, but itís quite an argument for the use of extracts.

Bottle from New Beer. Golden in color with some orange highlights, medium off white head. Aroma of fresh sticky hops- orange, mango, grapefruit, fresh and resinous. Taste is full of fresh, resinous hops, alot of tropical fruit, mild pine, and some mild malty sweetness in the back. A nice IIPA that gives me a new perspective on hop extracts.....

22oz bottle. Cloudy orange copper color with a medium off-white head. Hoppy aroma with orange and grapefruit notes and a malt balance. Flavor is incredibly citrusy with a touch of malty sweetness for balance. A far cry from Maximus and thatís a good thing.

Beer poured a golden amber color with thick white foam. Smells of pine cones, citrus, and other fruit. Taste is surprisingly smooth for a beer with this level of bitterness. Still a little thinner then I was expecting.

Bottle from the ever generous stefanje. Sparkling clear gold pour with a nice white head. Aroma is full of mango, grapefruit and some honey orange notes. Flavor is wonderful. Malty, hoppy, and fucking delicious. Hops are present but the malt is present and wonderful...great beer.

[Bottle] Pours a crystal clear amber with a finger of beige head. Aroma is purely hops with only a touch of malts. Lots of grapefruit and a bit of dank pine and other resins. Flavor is nice and rich, full of hops and just enough malt backbone so that itís not too sweet. Remarkably dry finish. Great buy at $5 per bomber.

22oz. Bomber. Honey orange color with minimal foam and lacing. Aroma is assertive and floral with orange blossoms, grapefruit and a bit of pine. Flavor is impressively hoppy, but not overly bitter. Malt kicks in towards the end with the crystal malts contributing a sweet caramel flavor. Body is relatively light and almost oily for the style with a somewhat higher than average carbonation. Citrusy tasting hops really shine from the beginning to the end. Goes out with a quick, dry bitterness. Get some if you can.

Bomber courtesy of JCB Ė thanks J! Pours a clear amber with a 2 finger foamy beige head. The nose is fresh citrus, pine and caramel. The taste is tangerine, mango, and caramel with a ripe pink grapefruit finish. Medium bodied. Very good Ė tons of sweet citrus and caramel in this one. Thanks again J!

UPDATED: APR 24, 2010 Bout time those guys at Lagunitas nailed one! Nice aroma of pine and grapefruit. Color and clarity are near perfection. Tastes of juicy hops with a balancing sweeetness from the malt. Finish is dry and bitter. Like to try next to some other DIPAís to see if it holds up, but overall a good competitor @ $5.99 a bomber was well worth it!

22 oz bomber rating. Amber body beneath a thin white head with good lacing. Aromas of citrus, honey, mango, and pine with a nice bittering finish. My kind of IPA. A mid strength brew that delivers. Good stuff here from Lagunitas. Will be buying in the future at a good bomber price.
