4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Hop Devil. Clear straw/amber color with light head. BIG and lively grapefruit, apricot/peach, lychee and pine aroma. Hop forward taste with only the minimum amount of malt. Thin to medium body, a little sticky, and only moderately bitter. Alcohol is well hidden. Lack of heavy body, heavy bitterness, or heavy alcohol taste make this IIPA highly drinkable. The beer was served cold in a tulip. I should have allowed it to warm up, but it was too good to wait.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Very pale golden with a thin white head. Served with a dried hop flower on top... not that you need any reminding that more than a few hops died making this brew. A huge initial slap of fresh fruity hops with a soft underlying spiciness. Very fresh and spicy, apricot and mango with lots of soft fruity hop oils. Orange peel, grapefruit and loads of sticky sweet hops. Flavour is great, not a lot of bitterness or resinousness, but certainly enough to balance the lean pale malts. Soft carbonation that accentuates the tropical hop sweetness. Awesome.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2007 22oz bomber, no date thanks to General_Gao, thank you Colin! Clear orange amber with a one finger yellowish white head. Lots of sweet pineapple, citrus, and pine resiny hops to be had amongst a nice caramel backbone. Flavor adds an element of grassy hops and loses a bit of the pine. Caramel malt sweetness is present most of the way through. The bitterness doesnít really take hold until long after the swallow, and peaks at a 6-7 (out of 10). Alcohol is covered very well. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Very good fruity DIPA from the guys that know hops. The flavor and aroma ratings are interchangeable. After looking at a couple other ratings, MIBRomeoís observation that it smells like Fruity Pebbles is pretty darn close.

Caramel colored pour small tan head, light lace. Big fresh hop aroam, nicely floral, fruity pebble cereal comes to mind. Full creamy well coated palate. Bitter grass & citrus, over a sweet caramel & lightly fruity note. Good stuff.

Bottle. Good solid DIPA. Really green and grassy. Couldíve used a little more sweetness, but not much. Nice finish. I drank it a little too warm, and it was still good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 27, 2009 Draft at Falling Rock Taphouse, Denver. Orange-amber with not much head. The aroma hints at a nice oily hoppiness and thatís what you get. Resiny with a tight citrus-floral character. Leaves a nice filmy reminder behind on the palate. Very nice. (#3131, 10/10/2007)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Hop Devil: Golden pour with an average white head. Nose is full of sweet pine, lemon, and a light bakery cookie hint. The flavor has the perfect balance of piney hops and a chewy malt body, making it extremely quaff-able. Creamy, thick carbonation. Thick sweet piney hop flavors, with a subtle lemon hint, and a chewy/bready/slightly buttery malt character, giving it the solid, medium body. Creamy, tasty, easy going and extremely drinkable IIPA. Well hidden alcohol as well. Nice job.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Hop Devil. A very juicy hopped beer, lots of hop character with little bitterness. Body and malt arenít very big, which is exactly what I like in an IIPA. Hop focused, for sure. Lots of exotic fruit type flavors (kiwi, passionfruit, lychee), and seems to avoid the 3 Cs. The biggest flaw for me though is that the 2nd half of the taste just dies off into nothingness, like no beer Iíve ever seen. It really has practically no finish. Usually the finish in a IIPA though is bitter and resiny, so that may explain things. Perhaps the brewers should have used a touch more bittering hop. Still yummy.
