4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
[Bomber] Pours clear, dark amber with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is huge, and very, very nice. A lot of pine, with some mandarin orange mixed in as well. Taste has a big hop profile (pine and mandarin orange again, but this time with a good dose of grapefruit as well), with the bitterness being offset by a strong malt presence. Really nice balance between the hops and malt. Mouthfeel is full with a long finish of grapefruit and malt. This is a really solid IIPA, and one of the better ones that I have had. Well done, Lagunitas.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: APR 4, 2009 22 oz bomber purchased at Spirits RB. Poured a great looking honey hued amber with a pillowy off white head that left tons of lace on my Allagash glass and a large pile of head pooled on one side of my glass as well. The aroma was the perfect marriage of hop bitterness and malty sweetness that I can only describe as hop syrup. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and hop flavors linger with a light bitterness. Flavor of recently crushed hop cones, citrus rind, grains, lots of hop sweetness. Phenomenal beer and at such a beautiful price as well.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On Draft at Deep Ellum, body is a dark golden hue with a tall tight pure white head. Aroma is sticky pine with a little dust. Flavors of grapefruit and orange zest dominate with a touch a chewy pine sap as it warms. The body was oily and bitter and hop burn was not far behind. Really a nice brew.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft… Pre-C&P’sLYFO Throwdown… Clear golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is of pine sap, toffee, white pepper and resin. Full-bodied with lively carbonation. Pretty well-balanced overall, though it does lean just a hair on the sweet side. Pine bitterness rides sidecar while toffee and caramel sweetness steers the bike. Lengthy, bittersweet finish - finally, the bitterness outlasts the sweetness.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a nice brownish orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma is citrusy hops, pine and malt. Flavor is caramel, pine, fresh citrusy oily resinous hops, grapefruit. Has a nice oily mouthfeel and finishes a bit astringent and bitter with some lingering sweetness and citrus to counteract the bitteress just enough to work well. Best value for a IIPA ever!

Smells nice. I taste grapefruits big time. Very delicious and fresh tasting. Alcohol is well masked under the wall of hop goodness. I hope this stays around permanently.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours an illuminating gold and redish orange, with two finger fluffy white head. Sweet and bitter hop aroma, with a huge citrusy grapefruit nose, caramel and pine as well. Huge hop bite, grapefruit, caramel, but not overly complex.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours amber with a white head. Smells of citrus (both sweet and tarte), spicy, resiny. Tastes very astringent and spicy with an over the top resiny finish. Not my thing.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Served into a tulip from a bomber this beer pours a nice golden orange hue with a 1 finger head that stays on the glass from start to finish. The smell is fantastic. I could pick up strong grapefruit notes, honey, and pine perhaps. The taste is bitter at first with a good sweetness to mellow it out. As this beer warms I am really liking how it becomes lighter on the palate. This is a fantastic Double IPA and should be bought when found.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber bottle, though it lacks the Sonoma Farmhouse portion of the label. What little room near the top of my aventinus glass left a cone of off-white creamy head that impressively stood 1/2 inch above the glass rim without loosing its shape and hurtling over the edge. Holy smokes, is the aroma good. Orange creamy hops that remind me of a hoppy dreamsicle. The taste is nice, but the malts dominate the flavor. Not until the bitter finish do the hops I like so much reappear for a lingering bitter finish. This is damn near perfect - just needs a lot less malt in the flavor and a lot more hop instead. But then again, I’m a hop whore...
