4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours orange with an off white head. Sweet aroma of pine resin and citrus fruits. The flavor starts sweet and well balanced, with citrus fruits and ends with a nice bitter piny hop finish. Very nice.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml bottle. Pours a clear golden amber with a nice off-white head. Aggressive pine and citrus filled nose. Hops take center stage right off the bat with tons of citrus, fruit and resin notes. Otherwise ample malt profile seems rather anemic against the intense hop bitterness. Lingering bite in a semi-dry finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On Tap at the Blind Tiger Ale House, New York, 19-11-08. Good looking beer with a white lacy filmy head. Shards of jagged hops reach out in a Tim Burton ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ jaggey finger type way into every nook and cranny in the mouth. There is a sweetness in this beer that gradually reigns in those jaggedty hops, but there are hoppy burps aplenty, those are some zappy hops but there is a good sweet malty base to this beer I like it but I think that there are better around. Bottle shared by alexsdad06.
Poured hazy copper color with a large frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with dry slick texture and soft carbonation. Heavy smooth bittersweet citrus flavor with a heavy bittersweet finish of long duration.
This is a standout beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz bottle, about a year old I think. This hop bomb pours a nearly opaque (cloudy) orange-light brown with a persistent, rocky off-white head. The aroma is mostly piney resin hops with little malt. The taste is much more citrusy than the aroma (a good thing!). There is a malt backbone to support the hops, but it’s pretty laid back (two row pale malt only?) and doesn’t get in the way. Solidly carbonated to push out the hopiness, both in the flavor and aroma plus bitterness. Medium-full body and somewhat creamy.
Overall, this is a great beer and I’d love to have more. It’s more citrusy and cleaner than Ruination. Wish I could give it a higher score but the appearance is awful and aroma is weak compared to flavor.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap @ Front Door: Pellucid tawny with a sticky head and huge sheets of lacing. The nose is spicy and hoppy with earthy and piny/grapefruit notes (amarillo, centennial, columbus). The mouthfeel is mellow like cask. Balanced tail and mostly dry hopped. Snappy and fresh SDPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear medium gold with a moderate linen white head that lasted through mid-glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of grapefruit and pine along with a bit of malt. The flavor is mild malt up front and is quickly washed over by grapefruit and pine. Hoppy, bitter finish. The alcohol is very well hidden. A decent IIPA, but fairly one-dimensional and not up to the standards of some others I have had.
