4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, shared by NachlamSie. Pours copper/orange like a 3 year old penny. Very small beige head on this pour. Aroma is very citrusy, with lots of grapefruit and grass. Flavor is very fruity as well. Much more juicy than bitter. The mouthfeel is medium, a bit on the thinner side, only slightly sticky, but it fits well. Finishes quick, and so does the glass.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2013 Bomber thanks to TheBeerCellar split with Tronraner and Muenster. Pours bright orange with a decent head. Yeah, thereís that hop stank I was craving. Itís in my face and bright with a blast of grapefruit, pine, oranges, and Mary Jane. The mouthfeel is slightly sticky. I could use more hops in the flavor, but the juicy delivery works pretty well. Pineapple and orange hit the palate with a drying, grassy finish. The sweetness is fruity and rereshing with suggestions of melons and flowers. This is such a smooth, slick IIPA. Very accessible for the style and I really enjoy it. My only desire would be to have more aggressive hop quality in the way of flavor, though it is nice to mellow out with this one for a change.

I constantly buy this stuff because it is the best double IPA for the money. It stands toe to toe with virtually any other IIPA, price nonwithstanding. The hops are very portent when I can get a fresh bottle and since it came to Knoxville, that has been frequent. Itís that lovely dank, nasty hop stank that Lagunitas is so famous for. Itís herbal and intense with a garlicky flavor. I will continue to go nuts on this stuff for a while to come.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2009 Tap @ Toronado on 08/26/08 (7 3 7 3 18). Dark golden color with a foamy white head. Crisp pine aroma and flavor. Clean, green, tight and wet. Such a powerful grassy pine aroma with a quick yet intense finish. Bottle (9 3 8 3 18). A nice rich golden color with a foamy white head. Fresh grapefruit, oranges and lemons spring from the bottle. A nice bright aroma with a smooth, bright and light flavor and texture that does not overwhelm.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From TheBeerCellar via trade. Thanks again! The pour was a clear copper color with solid white head that had some staying power and offered up good lacing. The aroma was mild citrus, pine hops, grass and some light malt. The flavor was tart citrus and grass and some almost syrupy sweetness cutting through. The mouthfeel was nice and the finish was razor sharp. A refreshing, clean drinking beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Toronado in S.F. Appeared like a double IPA in color. Modest head. Fruity hop aroma. As mentioned in other tasting notes, very fruity and juicy. The aroma and flavor were just heavenly. I can also add that it had the Lagunitas sugary sweet trademark, but there was enough bitterness that made it possibly one of the best DIPA’s I’ve ever tried.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The best word I can find to describe this beer is "juicy." Pours a niceorange color with a good white head. Smell is very much citrus and hops. Flavor is more citrus, more sweet than bitter, but it almost tastes like orange juice mixed with hops and beer, but in a good way. That’s a compliment. This was a tasty DIPA.

22oz bottle. Pours orangish amber with a good size white head. Good retention, good lace. Smells dark citrusy and grassy bitter, very nice. Tastes of sweet citrus up front with a bitter citrus finish. Full body, good carbonation.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled at Oregon Brewer’s Festival, July ’08. An intensely hoppy imperial IPA. Spicy and citrusy, but not overpowering. Very tasty.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at the Real Ale Festival at PP Carlsbad. Appearance is cloudy and murky dirty yellow hue, thing white bubbles ring the outskirts, minimal lacing. Smell is a delicious aroma of pine needle and citrus hops, tea leaves, bread malts, lemon zest, light booze. Taste is initially lemon and grassy hops, pine resin soon after, tea leaves dominate the middle, finishes dry and bitter. Light/medium-bodied, oily resin texture, moderate carbonation. DIPA with amazing aroma and hop flavors, nicely balanced with the pale malts, definitely a solid west coast DIPA with low alcohol presence.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Glass draft at Charleston’s (New Lenox, IL). Pours a muted mixed golden amber color with a little haze and a small but sophisticated white head. Aromas are very floral and citrusy up front, leaving me very excited for this brew. Taste is very hoppy, citrus grapefruit dominates the character with some strong balancing sweet malt notes within. Hop character is strong and sticks with this brew through the whole experience. Finishes bitter but clean with a borderline refreshing feel (Unusual for a double!). A very nice IIPA that does the style proud. Will drink again hopefully.
